Hi all,

Can you please share with me what is your favorite brand of Protein Bar and how many gms of Protein in One Bar? And also the flavors that you enjoy most.

I'm growing sick of my Protein Shake and would like to try the bars.

Thanks!

Edit:

I want to try the Oh Yeah bars - the only brand that was mentioned on our forums that I could find in India. Do you guys know how many bars are there in a pack?

Power Crunch bars are similar to the Oh Yeah....but, in my opinion, wayyyy better!!! I buy 2 boxes directly from The Vitamin Shoppe online every other week. I like them because they are a wafer and not and chewy, sticky bar. They have 15 grams per bar.

I love, love, love ThinkThin bars. They have 20 g of Protein & no sugar & are gluten free. My trainer at the gym told me about them back in January & I've loved them ever since. I plan on using them once I can have regular food again after my surgery! I found a few flavored I like the best & order them through Amazon because they're cheapest that way. There are ThinkThin & ThinkThin Crunch ones. The plain ThinkThin ones have the most protein in them. I haven't tried any bars made for Bariatric patients yet.

Quest Bars - All the way!!!!!

5 net carbs and for most post ops you will only eat half the bar at the time. They also have 12 different flavors that satisfy the sweet tooth!

I was reading a post from a blogger that she recommends you call the company and see if they have samples they can send. You don't want to spend a bunch of $$$ on something and not like it.

Atkins Bars. I only eat the ones with 10 grams of Protein or more for a meal replacement.Peanut butter granola is my favorite!

The do have some that are great if you just want a snack too... Also, Health Wise has a Caramel Crunch Bar that tastes just like a candy bar & has 15gms of protein.

I really like the Atkins Bars but I haven't really tried anything else. The Meal Replacement ones have somewhere around 17g of Protein with little carbs. I can only eat about 1/2 a one at a time but it gives me that nice full feeling (the good one) that lasts a couple of hours.

I LOVE Quest bars. I have been eating them for months. They have 20g Protein per bar. I like the all natural ones that they came out with a few months ago. I buy the variety box bc I love all of the flavors. You can go on the website and buy One Bar at a time so you can try different flavors.

Hi MomScholar - thanks for your reply! I saw ThinkThin White chocolate on ebay - are they good? Or do you have some other flavor?

Hi MomScholar - thanks for your reply! I saw ThinkThin White chocolate on ebay - are they good? Or do you have some other flavor?

Personally, I like the white chocolate, creamy Peanut Butter, and brownie crunch the best. I've also tried crunchy Peanut Butter, chocolate covered strawberry, and lemon that I didn't care for as much. I know everyone is different though. If you like dark chocolate, you might like the chocolate covered strawberry one. It was good, but I don't like dark chocolate much. I have an autoshipment on Amazon for the white chocolate and creamy peanut butter once a month. I postponed it now until after surgery, but plan on still buying them since they're cheapest there and the subscription is a little more discounted. I've found them in a couple local grocery stores, but not Walmart, so you might be able to look around for them too. I tried a few flavors from the grocery store before I bought them on Amazon just because I wanted to make sure I liked them.

oh - they're about $2 per bar at most grocery stores I've found them at. One was $1.79 per bar. Amazon has them for about $1.50 per bar depending on how you order it. You might consider that depending on what you found them for on ebay. I saw some auctions there before & some did end up cheaper, but some ended up even more expensive.

I have tried several different kinds of bars but I have gotten hooked on the Quest Protein Bars. They are a little higher priced but so worth the extra. They have 20 grams of protein and if you warm them up for about 15 sec. in the microwave they are fabulous. The other thing I really like about them is that I can pop them into my purse and I don't have to worry about them melting like some of the bars do. I always keep a couple handy at all times. If you set up the automatic monthly shipments of the bars you save $10 which is very good. I have checked and some of the heath food stores carry them but they are higher priced then ordering them online.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
