My date and journey begins June 6. I am excited and nervous all at the same time. I love reading all the post and seeing everyone's journey thus far. My preop test are next week. I have had 4 nutritionist meetings and been to 2 preop support groups. Love that I can share this with all of you and we can lose together.

As the days get closer to surgery date the more nervous I become. I have struggled my entire life with my weight. I am 41 and have fibromyalgia. Constant pain is awful but with hope that I get some weight off I will feel better. I have sleep apnea also. My husband is very supportive. It I have not told any of my other family. In fear of the judgemental. Comments I will receive. I went into a GNC type store last night to get sample Protein Shakes and the lady in there says I don't understand why you don't just walk to lose the weight. I was very offended. I am glad I have this forum to have people go through this with me and be supportive. Thanks.

Kfitch many people don't understand and don't try to put themselves in our shoes. You should have said, "I've never thought of walking"! Wow people don't have a clue. Welcome here! We are all supportive. Congratulations on your decision.

Artsy thank you. I just need to remember I am going to come across these type of people and not let them get to me. The hardest part is yet to come on telling my family. Brothers and sisters and mother. My sisters are so judgemental and will tell me I should just take meds and excerise again not understanding what I have been dealing with my entire life. Today I was thinking and questioning if I am doing the right thing. But I am doing it for me and no one else so it is right.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
