Started on soft foods today and tried chicken salad... Idk if I was eating too fast, if chicken salad wasn't soft enough, or what but I have serious chest pain right between my breasts! I wanna cry and I'm getting scared, because I feel like if something was stuck, it should have gone down hours ago. I ate around 6pm! what to do? What is this?

I get that a lot and find that if I take some gas x it goes away. If you feel yourself getting short or breath, sweaty, raving pulse, excruciating pain that you just don't think is right, go to the we just as precaution. But try some gas x or phayzyne. Could be gas.

I agree with the other posts. I felt the same way the first time I tried to eat meat. I thought I was eating very slowly and chewing very thoroughly; however, I suddenly got hiccups and pain, and eventually, vommitted. I have had that happen a few times as I learn how to eat "real" food again. I am fine with yogurt, etc., but when I eat meat and fish, I have to be extremely careful. If you are ever in doubt, you should call your surgeon or go to the ER, just to be sure; however, it is most likely that you ate too fast or too much or both. I had my surgery a month ago and am now larning how to eat again! Best of luck to you, Aloha from Hawaii.

They are esophageal spasm. They hurt like a b***h. Think of it like a leg cramp in your esophageal muscles that move food to the stomach. Food backs up in your esophagus because it can't move through the stomach as quickly with it's reduced capacity. They suck! Eat slower. They usually diminish as time goes on.

I think this is what happened to me too. I'm in week 5 and I'm not feeling great. I started my soft solids this past week and I've been sick since Sunday. Sunday I was stupid and I had one chicken finger. Oh I was so sick. I thought I was going to vomit and I was sweaty all over. But it passed and I was fine about 30 minutes later. But the next day I made myself some tofu and the same thing happened, just not as severe. And now it feels like something is stuck! I feel it all the time whether I'm eating or not. I don't want to eat anything at all because it feels so terrible now. I have gone back to Soup and yogurt. How do I get this unstuck??

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
