Okay I am going to the doc for my 2 wk post op visit and I feel like there should be things I should ask him but can not think of anything...... What did you ask your surgeon?

At two weeks...I just wanted to have the assurance I was doing everything right and my incisions were healing right. I can't think of anything I asked. As long as you know the next visit, the lifting exercising requirments, next steps of the meal plan...I think you are set.

I had no questions for my doc. I had no complications and I had realized that the doc's all had different opinion's on diet and transitioning to different stages in our diet. So I basically wanted to know if I was doing what I was suppose to. oh I didn't follow the rule on waiting 10 minutes between each bite. I still don't. ;)

I didn't have any questions. I was on track and just grateful for the assurance that I was on track!

Remember that everyone is different and will have diffferent outcomes. My doctor asked me things like was I getting enough Protein and Water in. He looked at my insisions. I had more questions for my nutritionist than I did my surgeon.

My main question was now that I have a smaller stomach how will that affect me doing manual physical labor in the humid heat of Louisiana summers. He said that was an excellent question. His response was that I have to stay ahead of the game more than others. The potential to dehydrate is far greater for me now than before. He insisted that I drink water 24/7 as much as possible to avoid severe dehydration.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
