Scars & Bikini?!

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, I was sleeved in December, and am headed to Punta Cana for a friends wedding in 2 weeks. Some of my friends know about the surgery, but many people who I went to high school with who will be there have no idea. What have you guys done for scar minimization? Mine are still kinda reddish. I have been exfoliating them often, which really helps. Any suggestions?

I could say, tell them that you had your gallbladder out, but since I don't believe in lying, I'm going with....wear a one piece and save yourself the problem. You can find some very pretty ones.

I know there is make up for scar coverage. I think it is called Derma Blend ??? And it is Water proof . My mother use to use it to cover bad and dark spider veins when we went to the beach until she had them fixed. She ordered it online. Good Luck :)

I say wear it loud and proud. I just tell people I had hernia surgery which is true since it was done at the same time as my sleeve ;)

However, I still am very shy about showing skin. I bought a one piece with a little skirt because of my thighs. Try using Mederma for the long term.

I was going to say there are so many surgeries with scars like ours. Also just so you know scars BURN so make sure you put a good sun block on them when they burn the skin will perminatly discolor they usually become darker skin so when they heal all the way and lighten to your natural skin tone if you have gotten sun burn on them they will heal darker like tan lines.

I am going to get pure zinc to put on my scars when I go away! Also, in tanning beds I cover up my stomach so no rays can get at them!

I just bought myself an awesome "monokini". Totally hides the scars!

A dermatologist told a friend of mine to put a good Chapstick with Vitamin e and SPF in it and it's better and cheaper than maderma.

I love this, I am only 2.5 months post op and can't even imagine wearing a bikini. I hope I have this problem in a few years. not sure if I would ever feel comfortable in a bikini though. I agree with all those on sunscreen though. and the monokini is great for an alternative.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
