Good luck for that 3-day stretch dogmom! I know you'll do fine though. I had a BM today too!! So my record so far is 4 days. Seems so weird. Was hubby's bday today and went out to dinner with him and daughter. I just picked at what they had. I ate 2 shrimp, a bite of cod, and a couple bites of potato. Was just enough and tasted yummy. Stopped at grocery store and stocked up on Protein - shrimp, tilapia, tuna, beef strips, and chicken. As well as some greek yogurt.

Hurray, Greek yogurt. I had a cup this evening and it gave me the last Protein and fluids for the day. Earlier today I had refried Beans with cheese on top for Breakfast and lunch and a small amount of chicken. I am never hungry. Do you think that part ends?

Had my 3 week postop yesterday and he said everything looks perfect! YAY He said I can pretty much have anything that dont require chewing 30 times to swallow, and to quit stressing so much about not being able to tolerate the Protein Drinks. Although he would like to see me @ 60-70g a day, he is more concerned that the majority of my nutrition come from Protein. I told him I was pretty much living off scrambled eggs, (2 a day) because I was pretty scared to try much else because Im terrified of a leak. He reassured me that the chances of that are very slim, to use good judgement and not to worry so much, that I had followed all the rules up till now so obviously I had it under control. He cleared me for a cup of coffee, and said I can have a diet coke in 2 more weeks. I asked him about carbonation stretching out the sleeve, and he said that is totally not true just to sip it slowly as it may make me gassy/burpy. He was very pleased about my 29 lb weight loss, and told me the stall I went through was totally normal, and sometime happen frequently so no stressing about it, just keep on keeping on, the weight will come off. His goal weight for me is 120, and I told him I was 130 when I graduated HS and was very slender. He said 130 is fine, but 120 will allow the 7-15lb bounceback around 3 years and still keep me in a normal BMI. All in all, a very good post op! Im going today to get me some shaved deli meat, sounds delish!

NSV~~~went shopping yesterday for a few things for Hawaii, I didn't have to shop in the "womans" section, got things from the ladies section, I have went from a 18W to a loose 16 pants, and a XXL shirt to XL!!! WooHoooooooo! :D

Awesome news Kellie! I had my 3-wk postop visit as well and met with dietitian. They said I was doing great and have healed nicely. Gave me a prescription for Actigall to take for 6 mos to prevent gallstones. He was very pleased with my weight loss, and said to just keep doing what's been working. They really stressed exercise which I know, I know... He didn't give me any guidelines as to what I should weigh, just said the first 6 months is the rapid weight loss. I'm down 23 pounds since day of preop.

Congratulations to you, too, Joni. Exercise is my hangup as well. As soon as I am cleared for swimming, it is back to deep Water aerobics for me and I need to start a more agressive walking regimen, too. I am so jealous of the people who say that once they started exercising regularly, they loved it. Maybe all of you can pester me into exercising.

Well, I ate too much and threw up. It was awful. I hope I remember it forever.

Oh no! Did you know you were full and kept going? I don't know what that feels like.

I made two mistakes: not putting out in a plate the small amount I should eat and eating while at the computer. The result was that I unthinkingly ate more than I should have. I need to be more intentional about my eating and I will be. Nothing like experience.

Wel today I realized that Peanut Butter is NOT one of my favorites anymore. I tried it because it was high in Protein and low in carbs. Will never eat it again. I experienced dumping syndrome for the first time today and didn't care to want it back. What really sucked was it didn't hit me until I was at my sons baseball game. I managed though. On a better note, since the seal broke! I lost 2 pounds!

Oh no, Sheila. Well, I guess we're learning our limits.

I want to just learn from you two and not experience the ugliness!!! lol. Yesterday I had quite a food day. Little bits of a lot of things - tuna salad, cocktail shrimp, steak strip with cheese, salsa, and sr cream, even a little piece of flat bread. I felt practically normal!

Oh no Sheila, that dumping has got to be terrible! My mom had gastric bypass 23 years ago and I have watched her all these years. When she get dumping syndrome it is BAD misery. Her episodes now are few and far between, but fairly common for a long time. I do not want to go through that ever! I would rather be in pain than nauseated. Nausea is just pure misery for me.

Notime, yuck but a lesson learned, I am hoping that I have already learned from watching my mom and grandmother for years. Since bypass, my mother doesn't handle dense meats well and my grandmother could never handle sweets. So weird, same procedure, same surgeon. Our bodies are just all wired differently I guess. I have been terrified of vomiting since surgery to the point I stress about it and just didnt want to eat for fear. That was what surgeon told me, quit stressing! Be careful, but if it happens you will have learned what doesn't work and wont repeat it.

Joni, wonderful news about your postop! Keep on going!

This is such a learning curve for all of us! Im so glad we have each other for support! :D Lord knows, I need it!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
