I make pinto Beans in the crock pot and would love to convert them into refried beans. Any suggestions? I don't do lard or pork products so i would like to avoid those. I also make black beans into a Soup like substance in my crock, can I make a refried type beans with black beans? I eat refireds from a can (veggie style) but they are loaded with salt and preservatives so I would like to make healither ones at home. Any suggestions??? ~Mandy

Easy. Just mix them up in a blender or mash with a fork. Season them like you like.

My sister takes Beans from a crock pot, mashes them, then puts them in a pan with some lard to "refry" them. I just mush them and reheat them without the lard. Cool Beans!

Forgot to mention... to thin them down add Water or broth...

That is what I thought but was unsure. I love to cook but have never really played with the Beans. I cook just about everything under the sun and have been cooking since I was like 10 or something so cooking comes natural to me. I love pinto beans cooked in the crock like a Soup (think printos from cracker barrel) with mashed potatos or mashed cauliflower. I also love to have the beans with some fresh white onion and collard greens. Yum! ~Mandy

I used to mash my Beans with a bean masher. Then I went to language class in Mexico and took a cooking class - they just threw them in the blender.

I eat tons of Beans. Mostly black beans. On Sundays, I cook up a crock pot. I have been posting alot on my new fav - spinach, black beans, grated carrots, tuna - with dressing or olive oil/balsamic mixture. I also have been eating alot of black bean burgers and tuna burgers.

I just got on the scale and I'm 145 today. I have been stressed and not eating much - isn't that weird for someone who lived to eat!!

Here's my favorite bean "recipe":

1 can Rosarita (or whatever brand) Chile Lime refried Beans

Mix with some hot sauce (the one called like Choluhula or something like that is really good with neams), some red sauce, a little bit of chili verde, some sour cream and cheese. I stir it all up together in the pan. Mouth-watering little clusters of gas-to-be.

And I love Chipotle, so I'll get a chicken bol, hold the rice, extra Beans, with sour cream, cheese, and hot salsa. Mmm.

I had some truly kick butt black beans this weekend, made like refried but really tasty... at least garlic & cilantro had been added, I could definitely taste those, but other stuff to. They were served with some white pork chili. I'm still trying to beg the bean recipe from the chef...

I do the canned bean thing too, but I love pintos made in the crock like a Soup. I always have so many left over as my hubby won't touch them and my daughter will only do 1 bowl and she is done for several months. I was just thinking that they would make great healtyh refrieds. ~Mandy

Did a doctor tell you this? I believe the "gas" is formed in the intestinal track, and wouldn't involve the stomach/pouch in any way.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
