Sleeved 4/11---Back To Work Today

Recommended Posts

It is amazing how each day makes a huge difference!! I am back to work this morning. I have a desk job and it is mostly data entry. I am an accountant for the State of MO and I work in individual income tax. As you can imagine.. we are quite busy!! I must admit I am fairly weak and my brain feels like I am in a fog. I am managing to get my 60 gm of Protein in and staying plenty hydrated. Just going to do what I can do and plug along.

It was the same for me- one week off. The first few days was a bit tiring, but then I felt pretty good. And after the next weekend, I was fairly normal again. Good luck to you!

I went to work about a week after my surgery. It wasn't easy driving to and from and being able to focus an my clients at first, but very doable. CONGRATS! Take care of yourself. ;)

i came home with a drain which comes out tomorrow. I'll be out for a few weeks which will help with me getting my new routine together.

WOW! Already? I did not go back to work for 5 weeks. I was pretty tired during the first 4 weeks. Had to take naps in the afternoon to recharge my batteries LOL. Amazing that you are able to work so soon after surgery. But do take it easy -- and all the best for recovery and weight loss!!! :)

I thankfully have short term disability to use and I plan to use what I need. I spoke to our nurse and she said 4-6 weeks would be great if I can take that from work, which I can. As a single mom I think I'll need all the rest I can get while I have the opportunity! Even on my pre-op diet I have been lethargic and suffering from brain fog. Thanks for letting me know that it may be possible to feel "normal" as early as two weeks post-op!

Thanks everyone. It is lunchtime and I am still making it pretty good. :)

I find lunchtime very difficult. Most of the office staff that I work with will eat at their desk. We also have a microwave and fridge in our little office so lunch-time smells really make me hungry (and frustrated that I can't eat like them). When they order out, especially pizza, it's terrible. I work at a school that offers culinary arts and the kitchens are right down our hall. Some days it's really agonizing.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
