Listening To My Husband :)

Recommended Posts

So I have leaned that I need to start listening to my husband he seems to know my body better than I do! I went shopping for new clothes since summer is approaching and all my summer clothes from last year are way too big and as I am looking for stuff he brings me up 2 pairs of capris and said try these on, I look at them and they say size 12 and I tell him there is no way they are going to fit I am not that small yet, but to make him happy I go and try them on. As I am standing there loking at myself in the mirror in amazment they FIT!!!! The same thing happened at another store with a pair of shorts I swear they wont fit, but he insists they will and they do!! I still see myself as overweight even though I have lost 85 pounds but he sees me as I am now :) I am very lucky to have such a suportive husband who is behind me 100% and now has a new job as my personal shopping assistant :)

This is awesome insight! Yes, do listen to your husband. It's natural to see yourself as the bigger you, but reality is knocking at your door! Let reality in and readjust your picture of yourself as a slimmer, yes smaller, you. CONGRATS! This is an awesome NSV! ;)

Wait, your husband actually helps you shop instead of mumbling and grumbling the whole time??? LOL

Great job and congrats on your loss!! Did you do the "they fit" dance in the mirror? :D

Congrats on your success so far! And yes, it's a normal part of the process for us as our brains (and eyes, I swear!) adjust to the fact that we're smaller people. We don't see the differences the way the people around us do.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
