What's My Start Weight?

Recommended Posts

This was mentioned on a post so I thought I'd bring it up. I have a highest weight of 298,,which was in November of 2011. i lost 9 pounds between then and my preop diet which brought me down to 289. I lost 16 pounds on my preop diet which took me down to 273 but then a week after surgery,,I got that leak..and during tpn I gained 13 pounds. When I went off of tpn I lost the 13 pounds again and an additional 27.2 pounds which brings me down to my current weight of 245.8. So where should I begin??,,this may seem petty but since I readjusted my ticker to reflect my preop diet weight,,I'm really missing those 9 pounds that I worked hard to get off..it was the first time I had really tried to get going on this whole journey. Just something I'm pondering on and wondering what others think.

I would put your starting weight at your highest weight of 298.

Well ok then!lol I made the change and am very happy about it :) I made sure to state it is my highest weight. Someone had mentioned about newbies getting the wrong idea about start weights and such..and it made sense. I don't want to try and cheat my weight..that serves no purpose.

Years ago, I was 350 lbs, and gradually (over a matter of years) lost down to about 255. Then, again over several years, I gained back to 290. When I booked my surgery, I was 290, and so this is where I put my start weight :)

My weight loss reflects my starting weight at the beginning of my 6 month medically supervised diet. I started that August 16, 2011. I had surgery Jan 27, 2012.

I lost 33 lbs in between those days. I've lost 37 lbs since surgery. I've earned EVERY ounce of this weight loss and it doesn't matter to me if it was pre op or post op. It has been my journey.

I used my start date of October 2011 when I decided to start this journey for real and that is what my ticker reflects and I state it is my HW (highest weight) - I worked hard to get it off and it counts for me :)

I count every single pound I have lost from my highest weight. I have lost 104 total. I lost 40 prior to surgery from fall injuries and a long period of nauseating pain. Then I got sleeved and have lost 64 more. Just because I lost 40 before my surgery doesn't mean I didn't lose it!!! Yeah us!!! Kathe

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
