Pickle Juice As Clear Liquid?

Recommended Posts

Tomorrow I will be one week post-op and im still on Clear Liquids. Well, I'm a huge pickle&pickle juice fan. So I was wondering if I had a Lil Pickle Juice if that be bad or would it be ok since its a clear liquid? I don't want to drink any if it would be bad for my sleeve and it would only be a small amount to satisfy my craving. Anyone know about this?

Totally my opinion...pickle juice is just vinegar...that would be awefully hard on your little tummy...I would hold off a bit...just my opinion

I agree, vinegar and salt can be used to break down bonds chemically when cleaning and such, so I would think they could be a bit harsh for a staples stomach try to heal.

Meh it washes right out I the tummy. I was eating hot sauce on chicken in no time. I'd think you'd be fine but sure call in.

I was allowed to eat chicken and tuna salad with a little mayo and dill relish after the first 4 weeks post-op. I always poured a little of the Pickle Juice in as well. However, it might be a little harsh to drink it straight-up. I'd wait a bit.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
