At the Chinese restaurant I get the beef with broccoli or shrimp stir-fry. I put hot pepper flakes in it when I get it home, or Thai garlic chili sauce. No more General Tso's for me!

Egg drop Soup and sweet'n'sour soup are decent options at Chinese restaurants.

Oh, and if I'm in a bind and not specifically going to a fast food place for a planned treat, I usually go for some sort of grilled chicken burger and just lose the top half of the bun, then toss it before it's finished.

Chinese - hot & sour Soup, moo goo gai pan, beijing chicken.

Mexican - Beans, especially thinned with salsa juice or sour cream. Chipotle bol with no rice (lasts for several meals).

McDonald's - the only thing I ever eat from that place is the fruit & yogurt parfait. If I have need to go there post-op I'll pass the fruits to DH and just eat the lowfat vanilla yogurt.

Schlotzsky's - they have awesome Soups, and good pizzas. I used to get their thai chicken pizza, eat the toppings off and then pick at the very top (saucy) part of the crust.

Chipotle and Schlotzsky's are really the only fast food places I'll eat at, I enjoy cooking too much (and knowing what's in my food).

When I'm out and about my first choice is Chipotle, I get the three soft taco meal, have one and save the other two for other meals - meat, veg, rice, Beans, salsa, cheese, guac and usually lost the corn tortilla during loss phase but usually have part of it now in maintenance. Other alternatives when available are for Panera and have a half sandwich and Soup or salad which I save for later, or go to In 'N' Out and get a Protein style (lettuce wrapped) cheeseburger which is just about the right size for a sleeve (no more double doubles though!)

I eat Wendy's chili, McDonalds fruit and yogurt parfait w/o granola. What I LOVE is Arby's roasted chicken club. It is deli roasted chicken, bacon, lettuce, Tomato, and sauce. I get it w/o the bun and half the sauce. Has 20 grams of Protein. I eat it for dinner and lunch. I can't do bread yet at all.

Mcdonalds - grilled chicken snack wrap - I get the ranch one, and I tear off a bunch of the tortilla. I sometimes get a cup of buffalo dipping sauce for it. I've done chicken nuggets before, or a cheeseburger without half the bun - blech. My least favorite place.

Qdoba - I get the kids naked burrito bowl without rice - chicken or steak, Beans, pico, salsa verde, a small dollop of sour cream, a small bit of shredded cheese - it comes with a side item. Usually I get the tortilla chips but I can only eat a couple of them. I can eat most of this but usually take a bit home along with the leftover chips.< /p>

Steak & shake - either a grilled chicken salad or a cup of chili

Taco Bell - crunchy taco supreme (I break off half the crunchy shell), chicken soft taco fresco style but with cheese - I just eat the innards and leave the tortilla.

White Castle - if I'm really craving it I'll get a couple sliders and take off part of the bun. I have to get without onion now, these upset my stomach pretty badly.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
