6 Weeks, Stomach Hunger Pains Or Acid?

Recommended Posts

Im about to be at my 7 week mark on monday and for the past week or so whenever i dont eat or drink I feel a pain in my gut almost like hunger pains or maybe acid. I have been taking my prilosec daily so i dont know why the acid would be so bad. whenever i eat the pain stops for 10 or 15 minutes then comes back. Anyone have any ideas?

Where in your gut? I had some sharp pains on the right side, below the rib cage, which was probably gallstones..... They eventually subsided after a few weeks. Happens with rapid weightloss....

There not sharp pains its more of a gnawing slow steady feeling in my stomach.

Wow!! I have totally been going through the same thing!! My surgery was on 2/13. Sounds like the same day as yours, as Monday is also my seven week mark. For a week or so now I have been downright HUNGRY!! I get that gnawing sensation after any food has left my stomach. At night is the WORST! If I was smart, I'd go to bed earlier, because it just drives me nuts. I've heard it said that it takes a good couple of months to get the grehlin hunger hormone out of your system. I sure hope that's true.

I know mine is not acid, since i've been taking stuff for that for the better part of 25 years. I'm more than familiar with what acid feels like. Way too familiar. This is hunger, NO doubt.

That kind of pain was the first sign of gallstones for me. Now that I've had my gall bladder out, I'm way less "hungry".

I don't know about ToddG, but I said goodbye to mr gallbladder 10 years ago. :/

I had sugery on 2/10 and I have had the same knawing feeling in my stomach. I am taking 3 prilosec per day (total of 60 MG) and a zantac at night and have been good the last couple of days. My GI dr gave me a prescription for Nexium to try but my surgeon suggested 60 mg of prilosec first.

I dont think its acid anymore. for the past 3 days i've had a constant pain with nausea feeling in my stomach. Its that feeling of being so hungry you feel like you have to throw up. I hope this goes away soon. I have a follow up appointment on thursday so i'll find out something then.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
