Anyone have any preferences on which airways are better than others? I was thinking Southwest.

When you arrive at the airport to claim your tickets just tell them that you have just had surgery and they will place you in some good seats. Then when its time to board your plane approach the attendant and tell them that you just had surgery and they will let u on before the first class people. I loved that. I rode 2 planes home and I was the 1st passenger on each. Both of them I got window seats.

Hi I also live in Florida so I had the same distance to go as you..I would recommend flying first class on the way home you are much more comfortable..and I would not fly southwest the seats are first come first serve you dont need that stress on the way home I flew continental/united and loved it they have direct t.c. on board and it makes the trip go by faster..Good luck..

I flew first class, but used points to purchase the tickets. They kept offering Snacks and meal but I stick to the Water or apple juice. I had not problems whatsoever. I could have flown coach but first class was much more comfortable.

My surgery is April 16th with Dr. Ortiz and I purchased my tickets on Southwest. For $10.00 more per ticket you get advanced boarding which will more than likely get you A seating meaning "first dibs". I also chose Southwest because they were one of the few carriers that had a non-stop flight back to Baltimore. I don't mind connecting going out but coming home I didn't want to have to change planes. I think I may also pull the "surgery card" when I get to the gate.... :)

I at all possible see if they can bump you to first class on the way back - you'll really appreciate the extra room and be more comfortable. I got bumped for like $50 more and it was well worth it.

You can get wheel chair assistance on your way home through the airports too, especially changing planes. I didn't fly anywhere for my surgery, but have in the past for knee surgery and used the airport wheel chair support to get from one gate to another in a timely manner.

Hey barbdoll

I just had surgery with Dr Ortiz on the 27th and believe me you are in for a treat. Besides him being handsome (so is Dr Martinez and Dr So)

He is very down to earth and you can tell from talking to him that he knows his buisness!! The facility is small but very nice very well equipped and exceptionally clean. The nurses don't speak too much English but are really sweet and comforting. It's almost like having your favorite aunt or your grandmother taking care of you. I stayed at the Marriott and it was nice as well, the staff was great and the chicken broth and Popsicles were really good. Good luck no need to wish you well, you are in very good hands.☺

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
