I had my surgery on 3/12. 0 complications, things have been well. I'm down 20 lbs, from 270, to 250. My concern is that I've been at 250 for a week now. I dropped that 20 lbs in 5 days. I was super excited by that, and now every morning when I get on the scale it flucuates between 249 and 252. Is it normal to have a plateau this early on? I'm following the diet guidelines to a T, and I've been walking way more than before. At tips or thoughts?

I'm glad you posted this because I'm in the same situation and I'm ready to just scream. I had surgery 3/08 and have only lost 15 pd since I have been going between 219 and 220 for about 5 days.

Phew! Good to hear! I'm terrified that I'll go to my 3 month checkup, and I'll be 250 lbs. Maybe it's because I've been heavy for sooooo long, I really have a hard time visualizing myself be any lighter than this.

I am almost 5 months post op and have only had one stall and it didn't come on until month 4. I started at a much higher weight than you and I think that affects how quick it comes off. I wonder sometimes if after all those years of being on and off diets if we screwed up our metabolisms to the extent that our bodies are fighting us to keep the weight on. Don't get discouraged. I find that only weighing myself once a week helps from getting stressed out by a number. Good luck.

I had a stall the second week as well and I came out of it like 3 weeks later, our bodies are probably just trying to get used to the new changes

I had my surgery on 3/12 and I am down 12 pounds, so I think you are doing great having lost 20.

Thank you Meli, and it sure seems like this week 2 stall is fairly common. Wish I knew this beforehand, I wouldn't be freaking out so much

I stalled for 2 or 3 weeks, and actually gained while in the hospital. My surgery was Feb 22. I'm down 35 lbs (including preop loss). But am now losing very slowly, a pound or less a day. So hopefully it's normal.

I am 3 weeks post-op this coming Tuesday (in 2days) and I hit a stall week 2 and still sitting here. I lost 13lbs the first 9 days and now nothing. I stopped getting on the scale and waited a full week to weigh and still no change. Howver, my body seems like it is getting smaller based on my clothes so right now i am going by that! I'm glad to hear that this is normal.

I weighed myself before bed last night, and lost a whopping 3 lbs! Stalls do happen, they're a pain, but they also break themselves (I didn't do anything different). I was appointment happy to see 246 lbs on my scale. That's a number I haven't seen in close to 6 years. :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
