Hi Laura,

Wow, April 1 is coming up fast! Are you on preop diet? Mine is April 4. I feel all I do is sit on the computer and read to prepare for everything because my nerves are starting to kick in a little bit, but in a good way ;) .

Congrats on your upcoming surgery!!

Courtney

I start my pre-op diet on Sunday. 4 shakes per day and clear liquid for one week. I just bought a kitchen ninja pulse for my smoothies. it makes them go down easier. I also went to pier 1 and got some cute tasting dishes. they are just the right portion.

Does the ninja really work well? - we look at it every time we go into the store. lol But we didn't know anyone who had one. I want to get some cute tasting dishes too. I didn't even think about checking pier 1. And I was thinking about getting the kids set of spoons and forks. I heard that having smaller utensils makes it easier to get used to taking smaller bites.

I got a Ninja too for myself. Tried it out by making the kids slushies and it turned great. Did you find a good Protein Drink that you liked?

Hello!! I am scheduled for April 11. I started my preop diet (60 gm of Protein via shakes and Clear Liquids only) yesterday. I have had all of my preop visits and blood work. I meet with anesthesologist on April 10. I think my nerves have kicked in, too. This is becoming REAL ... very quickly :)

Hi Waistnaway,

I'm glad you made it to the group :D . I know exactly how you feel. There are a lot of us going through the same things as the same time, which makes it really nice for the added support. So you are on liquids for 2 weeks? I am on a low-fat Atkins diet. I started on Wednesday. I feel better already.

I'm glad I made it, too :) I discovered that when I try to view the group from my IPad It tells me that I have to have a password but on the PC.. it doesn't. Must be something with the app.

Yes, I am on liquids only. I just got creative and added some fruity flavored unjury Protein packets to Jello. Will let you know how that experiment turns out. I have never been a milk drinker or an ice cream eater so it is difficult to drink the milk type Protein Drinks. I have no problem getting my 64oz of other fluids in during the day. I easily drink more than that in a day. At least dehydration won't be an issue for me.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
