That's one of my biggest concerns,, the psychology of my eating is not changing with the surgery,, but it will force me to come to grips with whatever doesnt allow me to take care of myself they way I need to, and for me, this surgery is the first step,

I am scheduled for my sleeve on Monday the 18th of June. I heard about the sleeve in May, did a ton of research and only wish I had heard about it sooner. On that thought though everything happens for a reason and perhaps I was only ready to hear about it at that time. I will keep everyone posted.

Everything said here rings so true. I was sleeved on 3/22/12 by Dr. O in Illinois. I look and feel like a completely different person at 39 lbs down since POD (49 since start of process). I now weigh 168 and am 38 lbs to goal. The hard part is that the food demons remain. My weight loss has slowed, and so the thrill and distraction of the frequent scale changes and healing concerns have given way to the reality of life post op. Food is not my friend, it is fuel. I can't use it for comfort or entertainment-not even on special occasions! I still have to make right choices (including eating enough) despite how I feel about eating at the moment. I love eating nuts, and can easily exceed my calorie goal by several hundred if not careful. I can also find myself going hours without eating if not 'interested'. Yes, the challenges of this life are real, but I wouldn't change a thing!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
