My port is right in the ceter below my bra line, in fact I have to position my bra so that it doesn't rest on the port b/c that feels kinda wierd. QUESTION.. does it hurt when you get your fills if your port is there???????? I go for my first fill on 9/4 and I'm already nervous that it will hurt. H~E~L~P:huh2:

Ok, no one is going to believe this, but mine is on my left side, right above my left breast. If you were pledging allegiace, and put your hand over your heart (like you did in elementary school), it is right below your hand. My doctor pioneered this, and I really don't know the reason for it, but it is very convenient. I don't know how I would do with a port in my tummy area somewhere.

Yup. mine is in the same spot too. I kind of like it there. It does not bother me at all unless I sleep weird (i sleep like i fell out of a tree anyway) and then i feel it. no pain, i just no its there. I liek that position because i can imagine the poor doctor who would have to go through all of my abdominal fat to find it. I'd be there until Jesus came home. Not to mention the lenght and girth of the needle that would be used to go through my belly fat.

Also I have spoken with a few people who had had their ports flipped and the doctors have placed them all somewhere in the upper chest area, so I guess his location is not that outside of what has been done. When i get fills they use this tiny needle that is less than 3 inches long. they numb it first, of course, then I'm out the door in no time.

If you have your surgery performed by Dr. Bagnato in GA then this is where he places his ports. He is a fantastic Doc by the way.

As you can tell by our port locations, both ParaGirl and I both were banded by Dr. Bagnato. However, in the end i think that it is up to the surgeon's prefernce. As long as I got banded by a confident and skilled surgeon (and i researched my butt off especially after i read the lap band complications forum) I don't care where they placed the port.

Me Three ParaGirl and Brina! Although unforunately mine flipped. Dr. B. was stunned it happened. It is rare to have a flip in that location.

I just had surgery on 8-20 and my port site is in the same place as yours. Did you have trouble wearing a bra? I haven't been able to wear one for more than a couple of hours due to the discomfort.

There was one bra I cannot wear, but all other bras don't bother. I think it depends on the bra, and if it touches the area. I wear Bali bras, and they aren't a problem for me.

I was banded by Dr Bagnato, too, so mine is above my left breast. I have lost count of how many people have asked to feel it!!! Mostly RN's. Anyway, better they feel it below my collarbone than "rubbing my tummy"---YUCK.

Okay, for those of you whose ports are right under your bra line..do you know if anyone has ever had their's flip there? Or did your Dr. say that it is not common for it to flip when its placed there? The reason I'm asking is because last night when I was laying in bed, mine felt different. This morning it feels more normal,,,,,, but would I know if it flipped being right in the middle of my chest???? I'm such a worrier.

I wanted mine on my right side (lower than my belly button) where I have a small tattoo. I thought it would be a good way to mark the location for fills. My doctor explained to me that he does not put them on the right side. He does not want the tube to cross the centre of the body in case one ever needs emergency centreline surgery & it gets cut like in heart surgery, or something on the right like an appendix.

I ended up with my port lower than my belly button on the left, though not as low as I would have liked because now my port scar is right beside my belly button. I would have prefered it to be hidden in my pants.

Same surgeon, same spot

Mine was under my bra line on the left, but after losing 70 pounds it's right above my waistline on the left. Weird eh? lol. My surgery marks are all way lower than they used to be too. Seckseeeeeeeeeeee.

When looking down at my port incision, it is slightly to the right of my navel and about 4 inches above it.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
