Either I'm Pregnant Or It's The Diet Soda

Recommended Posts

I went on a trip for a week and got a little off track with my eating habits. I tried diet soda for the first time and have had about 4 since then. Of course I didn't each much, but all of the choices weren't the healthiest. When I got back on monday my weight was fine but now about 1 week after I have gained 4lbs. My weight has fluctuated for about 3 days from 245-241 (different everyday). So with that being said, either I'm pregnant or it's the trip catching up with me, either way it's BAD!!

I'm really hoping that it's the bad eating though :-/

It's hard to keep up with drinking enough liquids on a trip. I'm guessing you're experiencing some Water retention due to a lack of hydration. The only reason I say that is the exact same thing happened to me after surgery. I took a weekend trip and didn't drink enough. It made my weight bounce a little when I started drinking, but then came back down.

Or you're preggers. (jk)

I agree with Dooter's experience. I recall from 800 times through WW, that the sodium and caffeine in diet coke will dehydrate you... and if you had one, you should add an extra 8 oz of Water to counteract that effect. You'll take that off in no-time. Water is your friend. Ha!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
