I am 14 days post op and I am still having some pain in my abdominal area. It feels like someone punched me in my stomach between my large incision on the left side and the incision right by my belly button. It was felling better before returning to work last week. I bent over the counter a few times during the course of the day and it put alot of pressure against my stomach and it has been very sore since them. Has antone else experienced this type of pain?

I had similar pain a few days ago, I'm 16 days post op. I talked to my nurse about it and she said to take it easy, apply moist heat and that it's totally normal pain.

My doctor told me that the incision on my left that was the most sore was where the liver retractor was placed. Apparently it is pretty big and rigid. It stands to reason that there would be a lot of muscles bruised under the skin. I am sitting here with my heating pad right now:)

The pain is normal. My pain stayed for a while at the biggest incision site. Try not to use that muscle too much and take it easy for a while. It will eventually go away.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
