What To Do With All My Size 16-20 Clothes?

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know how we can pass on our bigger clothes to others who are going through the transition and don't want to buy those sizes? Problem is, I live in Hawaii.....so to ship them to someone would be expensive. But I just went through a ton of stuff to day and there's some nice stuff in there.....

Thoughts?

Did you have your surgery in HI? Maybe your surgeons office can recommend something?

I am sure there are other bariatric patients in Hawaii....? Maybe a local post of craigslist if you have it?

If not check with the hospital or local bariatric surgeons - maybe you could offer it through a support group.

With the prices of clothes in Hawaii maybe you could get some of it tailored down a little so you could use it longer?

Try donating them to your local Goodwill. There are simply not enough plus size clothing at those type of stores. It would really benefit no/low income buyers.

All great ideas!!!! Simple stuff....I should have just figured it out.....weird, it's hard to part with some of my things.....even though they're huge; I loved them.....just part of the process I guess. The odd part is that after 60 lbs many of my tops fit great now (?) but my bottoms just fall off.....makes me wonder how tight the tops must have been before......

I for one have a great emotional attachment to my clothes!!! I shop a lot and I have tons of very nice things... I know where I purchased each piece and what I was feeling when I got it... It has been difficult for me to part w/ my things.... le sigh.... but, I can't now and never will again be able to fit them.... it's bittersweet for me... Does that sound crazy???

I know how you feel! But we both have to realize this does not make sense.....it's time to move on and I hope someone else will enjoy them......but I am hanging on to more than I should.....

Haha Queen of Crop, I know what you mean about hanging on. I just let go of my pink Nasa sweatshirt, my beautiful black leather jacket, and my pink UFO museum raincoat. I loved them so much, but looked like Edith Ann wearing her mother's clothes so they had to go.

I offer my too big clothes at my support group and then take what whats left to the Salvation Army.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
