there is a surgeon in New Iberia, Louisiana that does it for $9800. I can't remember his name!! google it and you'll probably come across it. I was going to use him, but ended up getting insurance that covered it, so going closer to home now.

My insurance WILL NOT cover WLS either! SUCKS! Anyway, I decided I have to do this NO matter what so I put my faith in GOD and applied for CareCredit. Yes, the interest is high. They have a fixed payment plan for up to 60 months at 14.90 percent. They also have no interest for up to 24 months if you can pay it off by then but for me that was just too much of a payment.

One good thing about paying out of pocket (which there aren't many good things) is that it doesn't take as long to go through the process as it does when insurance is involved. I just got done with the psych eval and am waiting for my preop appointment. :)

My insurance will not pay either. I don't know what I am going to do either. I get so frustrated trying to buy clothes and I feel I just can't give up. With a child in college, it just seems impossible to pay for this on my own. I will just keep praying for an answer.

My insurance will not cover either but I have done a lot of research and I decided to go with dr. Ponce de leon in Mexico. He has been doing the sleeve a lot longer than must USA surgeons (well over 5 years) and has been a surgeon for over 20. There are definitely other avenues to make this happen. My surgeon charges $5500 with flight tickets and all will be less than $6000! Good luck and don't give up!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
