Leak Test Nastiness- Will This Help?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, I'm still pre-op but I'm hearing that the liquid that you have to drink for the barium leak test is disgusting and makes you nauseous. I saw that someone sucked on a lollipop afterwards so i found these "three lollies queasy drops" at walgreens....Has anyone tried these? I knew they had preggie pops for morning sickness then i found these. Are we allowed to suck on these after the surg, and for the test to cut down on the nausea and nasty taste????

I had two different leak tests- the purple stuff and barium. I didn't think either one was that bad. I was expecting it to be way worse.

I posted a photo of the leak test shot...they taste like apple ink....took me 30 minutes to get 4 T down...but was okay....you'll whizz it out in no time at all. Also where ya having your surgery? and what is the cost of it?

I had mine done by Dr. Aceves, his stats speak for themselves....$8750 and was in hospital for just 3 days,,,,he and his stff OMG were awesome myself and the other ladies having the same surgery were treated like queens....

you should check him out...financing available as well. This man cares about his patients and he speaks great English!

My leak test "stuff" didn't taste that bad. I was given a straw and a cup with blue liquid. Once I drank it, we waited half an hour for it to process through then my drain was removed. Not bad and no pain.

I had the 2 part leak test. Thank goodness no leaks. The tech added the blue ink to way to much ice and it took me forever to get it down. I also asked if I could lick a sucker and you would have thought I asked for crack!

The barium was not that bad, just a few sips and I was good to go.

Glad to hear some of you thought it wasn't that bad lol, my mom had gastric bypass a couple years ago and said she threw up after. she said it tasted like gasoline. I'll just pretend its a margarita :) I'm using dr. morris washington in south carolina. It's $8000 all inclusive. I got financing for $7000 of it and i have to pay for travel. its a 12 day stay but god knows i need the vacation lol!!! check my other posts for more info.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
