SmilinGal reacted to gramaof4 in Sleeved 3/8 Please HelpI believe the rule of thumb for all of us patiens of Dr. Aceves was Clear liquids 10 days..(yes it was hard), then cloudy for 10 days (this is where I'm at now) and then adding in pureed foods smushie food.....I can't wait for that....I'll try and egg...great potein and low fat.
I had no real pain, only if you take to big of sip (more than a tsp.) I have a little restriction...kinda like a sink trying to drain to fast with to much Water in it....takes time...
Good Luck...I was sleeved 2/27/12 and have now lost 25 lbs.

SmilinGal reacted to Dooter in February 2012 Surgery Dates- Who's Ready?I'm feeling great! I've lost 40 lbs. total so far, and still struggling to get all the protein, calories and liquids in every day, and starting blender foods today, so I think that will make it much easier to meet those goals. I can't believe it's actually happening!!

SmilinGal got a reaction from NadaMas in Just Returned From Mexicali... And Still Smiling!I just got in from my trip to Mexicali and I can only say I am amazed at how easy this was. I was sleeved by Dr. Aceves on February 28th. I am 57 years old and figured it would be rough because I hate pain and can be a bit of a baby. I expected the worse. I have had no nausea, no real pain- just discomfort, and have felt pretty good under the circumstances. The worst part was the trip home because I am not a big fan of flying. lol
All of the overly positive comments I had read about Dr. Aceves and Dr. Campos, the Hospital Almater- it was all true. It was a great experience. I especially want to thank the other patients that I shared the experience with. I hope to keep in touch with you all! I am really excited about moving forward in this journey. The best is yet to come!
Oh, and another round of thanks to everyone on this message board who have posted their stories and questions. This helped me immensely through the process! Thanks to all and best wishes!

SmilinGal reacted to terrilynndrew in One Day Til My Sleeve!I had my sleeve Monday @ 7:30am! Piece of cake! After reading all the posts, I was sooo worried about pain, tubes, etc...all of which were comPletely unfounded! Maybe since I've had 2 c-sections, but the tube has been easy breezy! I'm following my Dr's directions to the letter and I'm enjoying this life experience!

Wow! I have had this same issue with some doctors. I remember once I went in because one of the horses at the barn that I was at (not my own horse) had kicked me in the knee. I waited for the swelling and bruising to go down and probably two weeks later my knee is still really bothering me. So, I go in to see a PCP and all I manage to get out is, "So, my knee hurts...." Before I can even get to the part about the horse this doc starts going on about how fat I am and how I'm always going to have knee trouble as long as I'm fat and when I lose about 100lbs it will all go away and I'll be healed!
I just sat there looking at her. Finally after she shut up because I had been staring at her for so long. I managed to say, "Actually, I got kicked by a horse AND I'm pretty sure no matter how much I weigh that was always gonna hurt." Then I got up and walked out. I don't know if I made my point, but it made me feel better.

SmilinGal reacted to CiscoTeacher in No Coffee + Preop Diet = HeadacheJust checking back in...Just to let you know my headache was not as bad today...I still had a small one, but hopefully the Caffeine withdrawal is about over. I actually woke up on Day 3 of my Pre-Op Diet with lots of energy...When I stepped on the scale this morning, I've lost about 7 1/2 pounds over the first 2 days....And I feel Great!

SmilinGal reacted to LilMissDiva Irene in Will Workout Prevent Sagging Skin?Blackanese is right on. That said, it is not going to prevent all skin issues. Time will help with this the most. It can take up to 2 years for the full results on how well your skin will retract.
IMPO, I never let this scare me from having weight loss surgery. I'd rather have some loose skin than have it packed in and be morbidly obese. I can hide my skin, I cannot hide being fat.

SmilinGal got a reaction from Dooter in February 2012 Surgery Dates- Who's Ready?I have waffled back and forth with nerves, but it's official- February 28th with Dr. Aceves. Flights booked, deposit sent. And now I feel calm and ready. I have mainly been a "lurker" on this board but it has helped me so much already!!!
