Terry, not sure where that is. Tammy, you are not very far from me at all. Where are you having your surgery done? And who is your Doctor?

I got back to the surgeon on Tuesday, then they'll submit everything to insurance & hopefully I'll find out what the out of pocket will be...still saving up for that..may get a loan depending on how much it is. I noticed from your profile we have a lot of similarities! That's awesome, especially since I know very few people around here

Wow glad to hear you got a surgery date!! If yours is October, mine will probably be November :( I was hoping it would be sooner, but oh well. Whatever it takes! If you need a 'buddy' I'm on Facebook & yahoo IM! :)

Well it would have been sooner but due to work and my husbands work I can't start the pre op diet until the first of October. Everyone needs a buddy! I'm on Facebook also...will add you as a friend.

I go back to the surgeon tomorrow afternoon, and I'm kinda nervous (2nd visit, not sure what to expect). Working on my list of questions I want to ask, so of course my mind is blank...LOL

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
