It took me 6 months from seminar. It seems like a long time, but it flies by! It seems that most average 3 months to 6 months. Depends on your availability. I have one weekday off per week so I used that time for my appointments. Any other questions - shoot me a message! Good luck!

It really all depends on your insurance. I was very fortunate as it was exactly one month from seminar to surgery! I am 9 days post op and doing great! Best of Luck in everything along the way! Blessings~Melanie:)

6 months. I actually believe it is a good idea to be able to sit on it for a while. It allows you to plan and prepare for the big life changes.

It depends on your insurance requirements, some insurance companies require a 6 month supervised diet program. For me, I had already been doing that, so my journey from seminar to surgery took 4.5 months.

Good luck and welcome to the forum!

It also depends on how quickly you can get appointments that you need. Some take longer than others -- if I had to see a cardiologist, I wouldn't have had surgery so soon. My psych eval and sleep study were able to be scheduled very quickly.

I had surgery just over 5 weeks after my seminar.

I went to the seminar in May, had to delay my June consult to July because of health problems, and had surgery August 30. It would have been August 12, but I had to wait for 3 months after a blood clot before I could have surgery.

I see that you're in FL. What doctor are you considering?

Does everyone have to do a sleep study??? Or is that patient to patient basis?? If it's pt to pt did u lead on that u might have sleep apnea??

Yeah I'm in the Tampa area. Pinellas side. I'm going to Dr Small. ( I love his name. Lol makes me laugh). Anyone else in Florida??

This forum has been amazing so far. I appreciate everyone's help so much.

I went through all the seminars with my mom since May 2011 and didn't even think of the surgery being for me. Fast forward to Oct 17th I called and made an appointment for me because I felt ready. Between Oct 23rd and Jan 25th - so about three months later I was sleeved :) I was able to go past through the hoops quick because I went with my mom in May so all I needed was my psych eval, blood tests, colonoscopy/endoscopy, and hit my goal weight of 215. Made it in 11 weeks.

That's awesome. You've had good results????

It seems as if the hoops vary from person to person. Do u find that too??

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
