Having A Bad Day :(

Recommended Posts

Over all I have been doing great and things seemed like they were great. I only weigh myself once a month and today as I stepped on the scale it refused to move from where it was in January. I am down 85 pounds which is great but at 10 months post op I was hoping it would be more. I have stalled for 2 months now and it is frustrating and almost makes me feel like I have failed at this as well. I know there are days that have been better than others but come on already stuck at the same weight for 2 months. I am trying to stay positive but all I want to do is cry this is the first time I have been this frustrated with my progress.

Hey, don't get discouraged, you're doing great! Change up your exercise and eating to get your metabolism back in gear. You might just need a little push to get things moving again. If you don't use My Fitness Pal, consider giving it a try. It really shines a bright light on what you're eating and how much you're exercising. You'll get through this!!

You've lost 85 lbs ? WOW!!! That is super! Be kind to your body, it has been through a lot over the past 10 months and is taking a break. Do you have any appointments left with your nutritionist ? You may want to take a couple of weeks of your meal journal and ask if their opinion.

In any case, you have done wonderful

I can TOTALLY understand your frustration and dread the day I get to one of those long stalls. BUT...In what universe is someone who has lost 85 pounds a FAILURE??? You have lost an anorexic teenager!!! What baggage!! Cry for a little bit if you need to, but don't soothe yourself with food. Dry your tears and go buy yourself something new to wear in a size you could only dream of at this time last year. Then put your scales away for another month. Your body is adapting, and sooner or later if you do the right things it will start responding again. Hang in there!

First let me say 85lbs is a huge success!!!! That a large dog! Go ahead pick uo a neighbors large dog and lug it around a day or two and see if you feel u have failed when u notice the differance. :-) celabrate the success you have had thus far.

2nd are you journaling everything you eat and drink? I mean everything? If not you have to start there is no way to adjust unless you have a true picture of what is going on.

3rd why in the world are you going a month without weighing? I know this is against the grain of some on here but when i was in my losing phase i was in the scale daily. It served as the best reminder of where i was and where i had been. It also allowed me to see how the foods, salt intake, liquid in take effected me daily. The scale was my friend, not rhat i always liked what it read, but because it gauged my eating and held me accountable. Daily weighing may not work for you but for me it was a must to keep my head focused. Also if something isnt working and you don't know for weeks at a time then you are missing opportunities to adapt your diet and exercise. Personally i think the minimum one should go is every 3 days. (i have my reasons but too much to type on this tiny phones keyboard). At least then you can adjust or maintain. Waiting a month is lost opportunity.

With all that said remember u have lost a really big dog already!!! Thats awesome and a success

I know this is heresy, but have you tried upping your calories for a week? Sometimes in a stall, upping the calories and then dropping them back down kind of gives your metabolism a kick in the pants to start up again.

Otherwise, talk to your doc/nutritionist and see what can be causing you to hold on to your weight. With all the weight loss maybe something hormonal is going on that needs checking into.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
