Cymbalta

Recommended Posts

Anyone have an opinion regarding Cymbalta? Any side effects to worry about (especially curious about sexual side effects).

Any experienced information would be helpful.

I took Cymbalta about a year. I found myself with much more energy, a general feeling of well being and it definitely helped the depression. Didn't notice any significant sexual side effects, but I'm single..

Anyone notice dizziness? I get dizzy in the afternoon. Could be from lack of food, could be from the Cymbalta.

Thinking of taking it at night just in case... what do you guys/gals think?

Poodles,

I take mine at night for that very reason. I was just getting way too dizzy.

But let me tell you all, I've been on it for a year and I don't know that I would do if I ever had to stop taking it. To me, it's a miracle drug and if I had to I would pay out of pocket for it everytime.

I took my capsules with yogurt, cottage cheese or some other food to help lubricate it enough to go through. Most of the time, this was never a problem. I did become overfilled once, to the point I had to open capsules to take them. Someone else has mentioned allowing capsules to dissolve a bit in Water, before trying to take them.

I've been on and off of Cymbalta for the last 6 months and have found that I feel much better on than off. No side effects noticed to speak of, at best maybe a slightly decreased sex drive.

I was on Cymbalta, I noticed I got headaches on it and it seemed to make my heart beat faster. Other then that it worked for me. Lexapro had a high chance of sexual side effects for me. I wanted nothing to do with it :)

Poodles, why are you going to take the Cymbalta? I started out on Effexor XL for anxiety and when I changed doctors he put me on the Cymbalta because I was complaining of neuropathy in my feet, I'm diabetic. He said that it mirrors Effexor and is also FDA approved for the neuropathy,,, 2 meds for the price of 1.

As far as sexual side effects, I'm not a good judge of that, someone younger will have to advise you on that. But I do know it's good for anxiety and neuropathy.

Good Luck,

I have been on Effexor for 6 months, and it caused problems in the bedroom...

I need to be on something for terrible PMS... I cry uncontrollably for two days straight unless I am on something.

I prescribe it too many....including family. So far haven't had any complaints....seems like a fairly good, clean drug w/ minimal side effects. Night time is what I tell patients if they do have any drowsiness or other side effects.

God Bless,

Melody

I have been doing rather well with the Cymbalta. The only side effect I notice is my blood pressure, but it evens out with my blood pressure meds.

My mood has been a little better. Can't wait for it to fully kick in.

I start my 60 mg dose on Monday. (My doc started me on 30 mg).

Thank you for all of the advice and experiences. I hope that it does not cause the same effects as the effexor in the long run...

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
