Update on Black Tongue

Recommended Posts

I went to the dr. today, and she said my black tongue was due to Thrush, which is due to the antiboitic I'm on, which is due to the cellutitis infection I have at my port site.

I now have some sort of rinse I need to use three times a day.

Thanks for your thoughts and input!

Wow, I was wondering what the outcome was. Well, I guess I'm happy that they know what happened and have a plan to fix it! Good luck!

Yikes! I'm happy you are getting that fixed.

I am going thru an antibiotic PH imbalance myself but it turned into a yeast type infection down stairs w/out actually being yeast...itchy burning horrid past week.

My advice to all who read this if you have to take antibiotics my Dr says to eat yogurt w/ live cultures in it. Apparently it helps and I will defiantly be doing it from now on!

My Mom swears by yogurt when on any antibiotic. She gets a yeast infection everytime if she doesn't. And thrush is a yeast infection of the mouth I believe. I can only imagine it wasn't fun. I hope you are feeling better soon :)

Oh you poor thing! Celulitus AND thrush?

Yes, thrush is a yeast infection in your mouth. You can even get yeast infections in/on your skin!

Make sure your yogurt has active live cultures, and possibly subliment with acidophilous milk or capsles.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
