Back In The Hospital

Recommended Posts

oh no no no no no no no no no!!! no negative thoughts like that. youre NOT going to die! this is a MOUNTAIN in your road that you need to strap yourself in and put on some damn comfortable sneakers and start climbing but YOU WILL GET THROUGH THIS!!!! i never thought id get thru mine but i did!!!!

im prayin for u.

Thank you all!

I was supposed to get an endoscopy yesterday, and then again today- but now they are telling me tomorrow. Because of my new anatomy nobody will scope me for legal reasons. Tomorrow the hospital is bringing in a specialist from a few hours away who does complex cases of post-WLS routinely. The wait has been agonizing but I'm relieved they are bringing in the best of the best. I was so afraid of some novice jamming a tube down there and killing me:(

I was admitted again last night- for pain and severe dehydration :(.

I want to love my sleeve. I want to work this wonderful tool- but I've been through 2 weeks of hell on earth and I'm trying desperately not to regret making such a selfish choice.

i bedhead, no one deserves to go through any bad health situations. Don't worry about "loving your sleeve", that will happen eventually. We all are just thinking of you loving to get back to your good health.

my best wishes again being sent from b'ville

kathy

I'm glad the hospital is doing the right thing and bringing in a specialist for you! That's very good! I know it stinks in the meantime, but getting the right care from the start is going to help you to overcome this obstacle. Praying your recovery will be quick!

He's been 100% involved in everything from the very beginning and been seeing me in the hospital regularly since I was admitted- and is in charge of my care. However, surgeons are not GI specialists nor do they specialize in endoscopy/ so he had a specialist brought in to review my case.

The specialist found a TON of erosion despite me taking 20mg of Prilosec at home and protonix in the hospital. Now I'm on this god awful pink medicine (sucralfate or something like that) which adheres to the eroded places and essentially creates a barrier between my stomach and acid so that I can heal. We're trying this for a few days while I'm still here and hopefully it will get under control

I'm guessing that the erosion was caused by the infection :(

So very sorry you have been having such a hard time. Sending you a hug in words and here's hoping you get this all behind you and that you're on the road to recovery soon. xox

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
