So, my surgeon wants me to stay on liquids only for 1 month post op. Any suggestions on things to try? I am getting to really sick of chicken broth, Jello and juice/water.

I'm following this topic because I've only been eating those things for a couple of days and I'm already sick of them.

I'll be interested in what others have to say too. I had surgery right after you. I've been having different kinds of Soups. I really like the V8 SW corn and butternut squash. I've also had some Campbell's broccolli cheese, Progresso has a really good chicken enchilada (strain out all the chunks). It's very cheesy. I've also made homemade egg drop Soup. Yum! Other than that, I eat several sf popsicles. I also have yogurt in the a.m.

Eggdrop soup:

2 cans of chicken broth bring to a boil- reserve 1/3 of chicken broth. Whisk 2 eggs and 1 yolk, add to the boiling chicken broth, mix 1 1/2 tbsp cornstarch into the reserved broth then add to the rest of the Soup.< /p>

I'm a pretty boring eater/drinker. I stick to the same things (except now what I eat/drink is so much healthier!).

I've been drinking Atkins Protein drinks to get my Protein in (they are SO delicious!), Vitamin Water Zero, regular Water, and sugar-free popsicles.

I totally understand how boring the diet is right now, but I think it's important to just remember how worth it it's going to be when you see the scale drop and become a healthier version of your already beautiful self. :)

Strained progresso Soups were the thing that saved me. One full months of fluids huh? What about thinned yogurt? Greek yogurt thinned with some kind of juice maybe? Good luck!

When you can move to shakes I think it will help a lot. I pretty much lived on Atkins shakes for quite awhile and in fact I still do. I like the caramel cafe and I keep them stocked. I remember being on Clear Liquids and feeling like I wanted to go crazy. Finally I was able to have a cream Soup and it was like I won the lottery. Trust me...it will taste better than you could have imagined. I believe I ate cream of chicken but cream of anything would do. I am sure once you move onto that it will be awesome!

I too was on a liquid diet for one month. My doc said two Protein shakes a day is compulsory. Apart from that I used to have clear vegetable Soup, skimmed yogurt, fully strained apple and orange juice (fresh).

I also had some tender coconut Water daily and it is soooo tasty and cools my system.

We have something called 'kanji' in India -- it is nothing but a rice broth. This is the Water that is used to boil rice. To prepare this, we boil the rice in large amounts of water, then strain it to get the liquid broth and then add salt to taste. It does have carbs. But for the 2nd week post-op I became very weak and my doc wanted me to have this 'kanji' once every day (100ml). I still lost 22 pounds in the first month so I think the carb did not pose any threat for me then.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
