Gone For Good Club- August 2006

Recommended Posts

So... my lazy butt went to the gym this morning. I was on vacation for 2 weeks and had no gym to go to so today was back to it!

Thank goodness. It felt awesome to be back. I bought some cute new workout clothes and I felt good there today!

I want to be in Onederland by Christmas! You know... "walkin in a winter ONEDERLAND" .......

ok enough silliness from me.

Funny~ How are you and the band getting along?

P'Nut~ What are we going to do about those hives?

Tricia K.~Where are you?

I'm here, sweetie. I was in Florida for a long weekend and just returned yesterday afternoon.

I'm happy to hear that you're back at the gym. I need to get my butt in gear and exercise again. I took too long of a break while on vacation. Had I known there was an exercise room at the condos, I would have brought my workout gear. I won't jog without my trusty sports bra, ya know.

I hope you get to onederland by Christmas, Heather. That would be such a great gift. :huggie:

Wazzup, Dawg? Congrats on losing 80 pounds.

I said it on another thread today.. any excuse to buy new clothes!

I've been taking mega doses of two different kinds of antihistimine and while I'm not broken out (at the moment) and not itching, I have been an agitated, hyper, frustrated, on edge, tense bitch all day. And now, I'm about ready to pass out on the couch for an hour. I hate the way these pills are affecting me, but a day without the hives is just about worth it. Speaking of.. its time for the next dose. Stand back everyone, this could get ugly. *snickers*

My brother breaks out in hives once in a while. It is his allergies. Aparently he is allergic to everything. Have you been tested? Might be a good idea. Good luck. Oh by the way P'nut, I loved the "Hugs" thread! Way to go Mr. P'nut...er...Dawg lol...sheepish grin :-)

Ironically, I've suffered with hives for years. I am clincally allergic to... you guessed it! ME.

True, sad to say. I have a form called Dermatographisgm. My body naturally produces too much histmaine so I welt up and itch frequnetly.

Nothing compared to what my lil P'Nut is going through though :huggie:

We're hoping that once they are under control we can back some of the anti-histamines off and get it down to a management level where we can figure out if it's just stress or an actual allergy.

My weigh-in for the week - not as much as past weeks, but I think female issues have something to do with that...

I REALLY don't want to EVER say the word "three hundred" after next week!!!!

Damn good food in Florida...

Gained 2 lbs over the long weekend... damn seafood...

371...223...189 up two since last weigh-in.

148 lbs gone since Nov. 17, 2005.

On a good note, went in another belt notch. Can wear a 36 pants now, but my ass still wants a 38... damn ass...

Sorry P'nut and Dawg about the hives thing. My dad suffers from something called "giant hives". Don't know what causes it, but he frequently gets these enormous hives all over his body, several times a day! It is horrible to look at, and makes him extremely uncomfortable.

BTW, you two are doing AMAZING! Dawg, how can you do it bandless, I am in awe!

Tricia, welcome back, hope you had a nice trip.

Heather... GREAT WORK! You look teriffic! incredible changes!

Moreorless, like the new avatar... keep up your hard work, you make us all look lazy!

Bestme... Great job, you are doing amazing!

Ericmom... you WILL make it! Twoterville, here you come!

Hope everyone had a better weight loss week than I did!

JoyceGA - H 450/ J 409 / G 165/ C 377 lb / BMI 69.3 / 68.9 (-73 lbs total ; -2 this week)

I lost the two pounds last Thursday and didn't lose an ounce the rest of the week. Weeks like this drive me crazy. I think, gosh, I might get 6 lbs this week, BUT NOOOO, my shoulder devil laughs and makes the weight hang on.

BUT, I think I am losing more inches. I need to get the tape measure out and check. Time to order fall clothes...at least pants that don't fall off. I want the rump that everyone sees in the grocery store to be a side of beef and not ME.

PhotoNut, I've had hives before. Mine tended to be from nerves. Think Doris Day in "A Touch of Mink". Finally, I outgrew it.

With this heat index of 105, I just need to sit on the porch and sweat it off.

So off I would swim a 1/2 mile to get them. The last time they did it I ask why they were doing it. They said Auntie you said you didn't get to go to the Gym to work out and would have to swim a lot so they said they were helping me!!!!We figure I swam at least 3 miles over the last weekend. I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
