I was supposed to be in for only one night... but I was also supposed to be the first surgery of the day and ended up getting bumped so instead of a 7am surgery I didn't hit the OR until 1pm. I didn't get to my hospital room until like 5pm. So I stayed two nights and I WISH I had stayed the third. But, my surgeon made a deal with me. I could either stay one more night with the JP drain in place, or I could take the drain out and go home. I chose to take the drain out. That thing was majorly annoying!

I was in for two nights which is standard for my doctor. The second day was pretty boring. The leak test was the third day, and I could go home after that.

I felt good the second day. I had some gas, but I walked and it helped. I quit taking pain meds before the first night.

The biggest complaint for me during the hospital stay? That I didn't sleep well because the nurses kept coming in. :-) By the time I went home, I was tired.

It has been done different ways for different surgeons. For me, I stayed 3 nights but I was a self pay and it was part of the package for you to stay up to 3 days. I could have gone home after 2 but since I already paid for it I figured I might as well stick around just in case. The most important thing is to just pay attention to your body. Let them know how you're feeling at the time. Monitor yourself and how your body is reacting. I'm sure you will do great!!!

I was scheduled for one night, but they made me stay another night because I was anemic. I told them I wasn't staying a third night even if the blood test came out low on the RBC. I HATE hospitals! Thankfully I didn't have to sign more forms as my RBC count went up.

I almost skipped out of there, but they made me go out in a wheelchair. Sheesh!

That kind of pampering I could do without. I was so bored I started play scheming on how I could get out of the building.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
