Had Surg Monday 2-6, I Can Drink Just Fine! Kinda Scary!

Recommended Posts

I have been able to eat ice chips the 1st day, started clears the 2nd day and have had NO problems. Of course I can only drink about 2 oz at a time but it doesn't hurt me. Today I took a shower put on make up and went to town with hubby, ran a couple of errands and went to Luby's he ate chicken fried steak of course and I got a cup of Soup and sipped a few spoonfulls of the broth. I'm just afraid of somehow accidentally hurting myself! that's the scary part!

I'm feeling pretty good over all just still pretty sore so I have been walking laps around my driveway and like today walked in petco and my driveway. I go to the Dr. Tues. to get this dang drain out and check up...but I just wanted to get some input on here...thanks guys!

You are healing great!! I healed pretty fast too(had my sleeve done on jan 25th) I have had no nausea or vomiting or anything the whole time. I took liquids fine, except of course, not being able to fit more than a couple ozs in my sleeve at a time. As long as you aren't trying to put things in your new sleeve that aren't supposed to be there yet,I wouldn't worry about accidentally hurting yourself. My doc told me to walk as much as I could but to rest when needed too. No lifting, pushing, pulling over 15 lbs. Congrats on your sleeve!!!! =)) PS-I found it really important to continue with the gas x chewables and prilosec for gas pain and heartburn. The gas pain is the worst out of everything in my opinion.

Thanks for all your help! I just get worried that I mite cause a leak, I'm taking it slow and easy though and trying to make sure I don't drink too much too fast. Thanks again, it just feels good to say it's DONE and I'm on the mend :)

I did fine as well. Imagine the amount of liquids you'll be able to digest once the swelling goes down

I felt normal after day three. Happy sleeving!

Cool bc I do like to drink Water and tea all day at work! I don't go back til the 3rd but I'm glad I don't have to worry about getting dehydrated. I just don't want to spring a leak from drinking too much :(

I think if you listen to your sleeve for cues of fullness, you will be fine. I'm sure you're drinking slowly, yea? I was VERY worried about a leak when I could drink alot. I had a bit of pain too so I freaked out and had my surgeon order xrays and a ct scan lol. I was fine

I seem fine, yesterday started having these almost menstral type cramps where my stomach is/was...comes in waves twinges 3-4 times then gone again. It's almost like it's contracting down or peristalsis is starting??? anyone else feel this? other wise I feel fine and nothing else has changed or is new...just this...maybe my stomach is waking up???

Hm could be. I've heard of some ppl having a bit of spasms in their sleeves, especially when they drink cold stuff.

I feel like I can drink to much to fast too. I try to take baby sips but, it's habit. It just goes down so quick. I scare to spring a leak too. At the hospital they gave me a bunch of 1 oz cups (like you use to measure medicine) to use to measure Water. I guess I better start using them. They use them to make sure you get enough in but, maybe it's to keep from driinking to much to fast too.

Sounds like you are on your way! I am scheduled for surgery tomorrow morning. I am very excited and a little scared. I remain positive and know this is a life changing as well as saving issue for me. I have been reading some of the blogs , most seem positive. I hope all goes well. I am so ready for this step in the journey!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
