Recommended Posts

I know that I will get a few comments about this question but........

I was sleeved on Jan 24th & I am still on my liquid & full liquids diet. I am realllllyyy looking for some type of flavor & I know I could handle the consistiancy of ice cream. Just wondering If any of you tried that ? Does the sugar or milk make you sick ? Please let me know. Thanks !

Hello,

In the early days too much sugar made me go really 'funny'... I would get light headed and dizzy, sometimes have sweats! It wasn't pleasant at all. If you can stay away a little longer, I would if I was you. I understand the need for taste and flavour; could you try something different for the phase that you are currently in? I won't be long until you can chew again!!

Good luck! =]

One thing that I did was I took plain Greek yogurt (nasty by itself!) and added like 2 oz of store-bought frozen yogurt to make myself think it was ice cream. It's actually really good, plus you get good Protein from the Greek yogurt - I still eat it once in a while for a treat! :biggrin2:

yum that sounds good key...I never could handle greek yogurt but that may work...There are some recpies out on the www for Protein ice cream...always wanted to try one but havent yet...what about freezing your yogurt like the gogurt for kids? I also shave ice for snowcones and add sugar free syrups...yummy.

I pour Walden Farms choc. Syrup on plain yogurt. (It has no caloric value) and now that I can eat nuts, I mix plain yog, with that syrup and almond butter. Delish. I was forbidden even to chew sf gum at your stage. No comments but agree u might hang in a bit longer

Like someone else here, I too tried some yogurt and I ate a few spoonfuls very slowly. When I picked up the third spoonful PAIN gripped my entire stomach. I had debilitating, horrible stomach cramps and I broke out into a cold sweat. That pain was so horrible and just rocked me. I haven't eaten anything since that had more than 2gm of sugar naturally. I am very, very picky with what I eat. I don't even look at anything sweet or anything thats a treat. Especially this early in the game - this is just my opinion... when you start snacking on ice cream, and trying to find "small" indulgences you can stall quicker or may not reach your weight loss goals as quickly. Again, this is just my point of view. I was eating yogurt while out with friends and trying to be polite. But now I bring my food with me and I don't try to get creative. If I crave a snack I will eat fruit "in their own juices" ... And as a result I have lost 34 lbs and my surgery was on Jan 23.

Have you thought about the Luigi's no sugar added Italian ice cups from the ice cream section of your grocery? They are 60 calories per serving, and the no sugar added box comes with three strawberry and three lemon.

They don't have any Protein, but they can satisfy that desire for a frozen dessert.

I have tried the no sugar added ice cream, and it is pretty good. In Texas we have Blue Bell ice cream, which also comes in no sugar added, but it has that sweetener taste.

I've had a few dairy items that were higher in sugar and were not tolerated well. TMI alert, but search on "dumping".

Also, like Tai29 said, I don't want to open the door to "small" indulgences that will slow my progress. Or, even worse, lead me back to the habits that got me in this place to begin with. Ice cream is a slider food. It would be easy to eat a lot of it.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
