:Banane56: Okay get this and HELP me please cuz if its going to be like this I think I may prefer eating cheesies!! This is my fifth day pre-op. To embarrass myself I started this thing at 320 and I am almost 5'9". So not eating anything other than cottage cheese and yogurt is bead enough but hey, on third day the scale said 315..that was nice okay I thought . BUt, yesterday day four,,,nothing and today day five up 1 lb. How the heck does that work???? I mean I am not eating loads of this stuff anymore. I eat the cottage cheese for Breakfast and lunch and then try to keep the yogurt for dinner...soooooo, I read how many of you have lost 15 - 20 lbs pre-op and I have an entire human being to lose,, sooooo how will that happen if all of a sudden my body is used to loads of food, then now this fairly good stuff and it doesn't want to lose much.???

Any pointers, cuz I am ready to reach for the NACHOS......:hungry: (well I won't but you know I feel like it.):phanvan

I betcha every single one of us who did the pre-op diet had a day or TWO where the scale went up a bit. It's normal, try not to weigh everyday, I know, I know, I can't do it either, soooooooooooooooooo nevermind if you can and weigh tommorow. Remember it's not what you weighed everyday, but how well you stuck to the pre-op for surgery that counts. Get the liver hopp'n, it'll make a huge difference for surgery and recovery. The weigh right now is just a side-effect. But I know, you want to see it coming off while your eating next to nothing. All I can say is be patient, and it is going to work out and be GREAT!!!!!!

I am in the end stretch of the pre-op. My surgery is Tuesday. I was NOT allowed to eat food of ANY kind. All I get is protien shakes, and a nasty powder Soup. It does get easier by everyday, trust me. I cried many times the first few days. Now on day 12, I don't feel hungry for crap. I have lost 18 lbs. as of yesterday. I was close to you, 315. I am now 297! You can do it, step away from the nacho's and think long term! A few moments of cheese will ruin your plan! I know it is hard, but it gets easier!

:faint: :faint: :faint:

Oh Kim.... stop weighing everyday!! Do you have someone who can take the scale away from you, and only give it back once a week, or even every 4 days or so? AND... when you do weigh, make sure it's at the same time every day you do it...and preferably the morning.

I don't know about you guys, but if I weigh myself in the morning, I can guarantee that I will easily weigh at least 3 lbs more in the evening. So I never ever do it in the evening!

So anyways, Kim, you're gonna do good with this... just keep it up, and try to stay off the scale as much as you can!!

oh god mandi. NO I would never weigh in the evening..lol too depressing.

Maybe now with the food choices and lack of BM's til now make a difference too. Thanks for your support I feel like I am whining, No one else sounds this whiny pre op. Wow I read Boo Boo Kitty and she is down like 20 lbs. Wow that is huge...but again she is much younger so it justs slides off your butt like butter when you are so young

yup, I agree with what everyone else said.

Bottom line, though you likey will lose during the pre-op; that isn't the goal....even if you don't lose lb wise, your liver will still be in better shape!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
