Ljuht115 - He saw it last Friday and didn't seem too concerned. He told me it could take 3-4 weeks for the swelling to go down but my right side looks fine. If it was going down at all I would feel fine about it but It looks the same and it seems there is Fluid down lower. It is very fluid looking, not normal. I will give it another week and then call them for an appt. if it looks the same.

I feel really good today. I have been busy, in and out of the house, so I haven't thought a lot about eating. That's a good thing! I need to work harder at getting my walking in.

Hi Everyone,

Renton here. Just found this site tonight and have already learned so much. My husband and I are both looking at the lapband. We are scheduled for a seminar w/the Franciscan Hospitial in Federal Way on June 7th. We are pretty excited to get the ball rolling.

Hope everyone had a nice Memorial weekend.

Hi there, I'm from Olympia and my surgery is on June 22nd. I sure hope you will feel better soon. I am so worried about that liquid diet too, how do survive on broth...

Write me back, Josie

Find a broth that works for you, the canned albertson brands arent so bad, always carry Water with you, and have a freezer full of sugar free popsicles!

Hi there, I'm having Dr. Srikanth do my surgery on June 12th. Just curious - how has everything gone for you? Are you happy with him and his staff? He seems very friendly and knowlegdable. I also thought that it was important that he is part of the Center of Excellence at St. Francis.

o2bthin,

I seriously thought about going to MX since I'm self pay, but then my mom said that she would help with the cost so I decided to stay here. From what I've read there are a couple of really good docs down there. Best of luck to you.

Back at work today, just to put out fires then I'll be back on Friday. It's hard to sit up at a computer, and the sholder pain just hit, so I think I'm going to head home.

Those who have been banded awhile...

Does the sholder pain eventually go away (how long)? Or does it continue to come with gas pains (in stomach) even after the abdominal gas from surgery has fully absorbed? Seems to come whenever I drink, though it's hard to tell b/c I'm drinking all day long.

Hi there!

So good to see locals here. I'm 33, TypeIIDiabetic, BMI 41.5.

I did the original intake 2 years ago, but waited until my twins were done nursing

I have an appointment with Dr. Landerholm from PSSC on 6/19, and am a self-pay.

Thinking of looking into NWWLS and Mexico...kind of overwhelmed by all the info.

Hope to gain insight here,

Mo

Hi Renton Here-

Hello all,

Question - I just got done today with the rest of my pre-op testing, the abdominal ultrasound. The ultrasound tech said that I had a lot of gall stones. What if anything will this mean to my surgery? I have Dr. Srikanth. Him and Dr. Oh have worked together closely in the past and I think that they run things basically the same. So to any Srikanth or Dr. Oh patients out there - did this happen to you? If so, what became of it? I just dont' want my surgery post-poned.

I did wonder that since I'm a self pay maybe if they need to remove my gall bladder, maybe they could do it at the same time and insurance would pick up some of the cost?! That would be a bonus!! Probably wishful thinking.

Take care everyone and please let me know if anyone has had this come back for them.

Thanks

I thought Dr. Oh said at the seminar that he would remove it at the same time he did the lap band but the hospital wouldn't pick any of it up. However, I do know some people have gotten some of their hospital bill picked up even if they were self-pay so probably depends on your insurance. There are other people on some of the threads who had to have gall bladder surgery two weeks before their band surgery. Guess it comes down to the Doctor.

Thankfully, he is one of the best docs out there!! You'll be in good hands!! Everything has gone just fine better yet Im actually losing weight, , I absolutely LOVE my band, it definately helps me keep to eating the right portions and its also made me aware of the food choices I make! I am also very happy with his staff, you'll really get to know Terri (NURSE) she is a grreat resource and can easily be reached, which I especially appreciate! Dr. Srikanth is very knowlegdable and better yet his bedside manner is A+++, he's very laid back and at the same time compassionate, he's also one of the only docs that will take your vital signs if needed, which definately says much on his qualities as a person. I wish you the best of luck and let me know if I can answer anymore questions!!:clap2:

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
