16 Days Post Face Lift

Recommended Posts

I had a face and neck lift with chin augmentation 16 days ago in Costa Rica. I love my chin! I always had a slightly receding chin and a rather large nose, so now my profile is better balanced. I have scabs behind my ears and in my hair that I keep wanting to scratch off but resist because that will just delay healing. There are some red bruises on either side of my chin and yellow in front of my ears. My neck feels like I am wearing a tightly tied bonnet and my ears are swollen and pretty large. Right now I think my face is too tight but I can't tell if it is still swollen or if this is it--some must be swelling because I can't open my mouth very widely. There was almost no pain but my ears were very uncomfortable the first week and even now I can't lie on my side. Overall, I think I look younger but not "me" yet. Maybe it takes time to get used to the absence of wrinkles?

Foxbins,

Congrats on a successful surgery. I've heard the surgeons in Costa Rica are very good. I do think you are still swollen a bit and that it will take time to get used to the new look on your face.

Best wishes on a speedy recovery!

Lynda

I've been away from the boards for a while due to a death in the family and just found your post! What an awesome gift to yourself! I understand it takes a while for the swelling to really go down. A friend who got a similar procedure really started to look fantastic at about 30 days! Within a couple of weeks she looked really good... but then.. WOW, even better. I think it will get better and better as you heal. Congratulations! Enjoy the new you!

Congratulations, I am excited for you. How did you find a surgeon in Costa Rica. I know nothing of plastic surgery outside the US, so any tips would helpful.

Kept us posted on your progress.

I found a surgeon in Costa Rica the same way I found Dr. Aceves in Mexicali. I began with an internet search, found 5 or 6 names that kept cropping up as good surgeons, and researched the heck out of each one. Then, I had a couple of plastic surgery consultations here in California, and what I wanted to have done was going to cost 14,500. In Costa Rica I paid 8300, plus 1300 for the recovery facility I stayed in for two weeks post-op. I highly recommend my surgeon, he has a great aesthetic eye.

My neck is still hard and tight and I am numb from in front of my ears to the middle of my cheeks. The sensory nerves are regrowing and sometimes feel like little sparks going off, or like someone poking me with a pin, but I usually don't notice unless I am trying to fall asleep. I am still slightly swollen but only I can tell. None of my friends has said anything other than that I look like I have lost more weight (I haven't, it was having the saggy skin removed that made my face slimmer). I think my best friend suspects but she will wait for me to tell her. I would, except I know she wants a lift but she and her husband can't afford it right now and I don't want to flaunt my good fortune.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
