How Much Did You Lose In Month 1

Recommended Posts

I am reading along and noticing the VAST differences in everyone's loss. I had my sleeve done on 12/26/11...and have lost 36 pounds now.

I have to honestly say that it seems like so little when there is so much that I need to lose.

My clothes are all too big and that's kinda fun. Plus I can touch my toes and I can run (not simultaneously).

My surgeon said that I should expect to lose about 20-30 monthly. I sure hope that is not lofty because I still have such a long way to go.

Where were you at this time? When did you start REALLY seeing a difference? When will my chins consolidate :) ?

Holy crap! I'd be THRILLED with 36 lbs the first month - I was sleeved one day after you and I've only lost 13.4 so far :( Luckily I lost about 16 lbs pre-surgery so my total is 29.6 lbs.

Hello. At 1 month out I was down 32 lbs. Although everyone around me noticed the difference right away, I really didn't see it. For me the REAL difference is now that I am 3 months out and 57 lbs lighter. Congrats on your success!

I actually lost 25 pounds the first two weeks because I had complications and was keeping NOTHING (not even water!) down. After they fixed me, I gained 6 of it back. My poor body... so traumatized! I'd have to guess I lost about 26 pounds the first month. 36 pounds in ONE month is amazing! That's more than a pound a day!

CONGRATS!!!! Thirty-six pounds is really an accomplishment! I was sleeved on 12/27/11 and I've lost 19.2 lbs. with a total of 79 lbs to reach goal weight. I'm feeling a bit like I haven't done as well as I should have for the same reason you are. My friends and loved ones keep reminding me that I need to patient and let my body find it's new "happy medium." Hang tight, it's coming off every second!

Yea I have like...A LONG way to go...Everyone keeps telling me that I will NEVER be at my ideal body weight. My doc wants me to be 140lbs @ 5'6. With so much to lose it's like 50 is a drop in the bucket.

I swear I hope I can lose another 130lbs. Skeptical, but optimistic. I hope that this month is an indicator but it seems like it slows down the further out you get.

Thanks for the kudos, guys!

That's why I love VST!

Don't believe what others have to say....trust in what you believe.....speak what you want and you shall have what you say. It's out of your mouth and your heart. Try saying you want to "get rid of"....anything we lose we want to find---we don't want to find a single pound. Blessings2u--BJ

Wow 36lbs. the first month?! That is awesome!! I was all proud of myself for losing 20lbs my first month. Specially since without the surgery it took me 3 months of 5 times a week at the gym (3hrs every time) and a very strict eating plan just to lose 20lbs! Keep up the great work I have no doubt you can hit your goal!!

everyone is going to lose differently - thyroid issues, total weight needed to lose, how much Protein you get in, etc. I'm hoping to be in the 30 lbs a month range but I know I won't be right away. Got some other stuff to deal with first. Just happy to be in line for the losers bench!

I was sleeved on 12/28 and have only lost 11.5 lbs :-( my age, post menopausal and thyroid issues? I worry that my sleeve progress will be slow and unfortunately unsuccessful like all the other "diets" I've been on. I have always had to fight for every lb lost . I think you're doing awesome.

Mrs., you have done an amaaaazing job for your first month out! 36 lbs. is fantastic! I am not sleeved yet - hoping for a date in February - but I hope, hope, hope I can lose in the range of what you have in the first month! I will be thrilled if I can do that! I know the big amount is daunting when you are still near the beginning of your journey but don't let anyone tell you that you won't ever be at your goal - you are in control of that and look at all you have accomplished so far! Having them tell me that would only make me want to get there more! You can do it! I have around the same amount to lose as you. I am 5'10" and have about 125 lbs. to lose. I am also a Kansas girl - maybe we can be sleeve buddies even though I am a little behind you! I live in Florida now, but will always be a midwestern girl at heart! Good luck going forward!

Holy crap I'd be thrilled to have lost as much as you. I was sleeved 12/21, and post op I've lost about 17 pounds and I've been stalled here for about a week (guess that is the lovely 3 week stall) but hey, I'm 4 weeks now, so can we move on?

I will be doing cartwheels if I lose 36 lbs this month. I am not on track for anything even close to that, however! :) As others have already said... that is an amazing loss!

That sounds great and very simliar to what I'm going through. I was sleeved on Jan 12 and I've lost 26 pounds already in just under 2 weeks. I have ZERO complications or pain and was back to 100% by the fourth day out of surgery. Living on Water, broth, Protein Shakes, Protein Shots, Vitamins, and yogurt. I plan on going back to the tredmill starting Monday..so I should start to lose even more!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
