Surgery Date 2-2-12 S.san Francisco, Ca (Kaiser)

There are several out west of the hospital on Geary but I would have to look them up to see what is there. I am not sure how cheap they are but they would be the closest and the safest area near Kaiser on Geary.

You could always check with the hospital as they usually have a list of the hotels close for families and also the costs. i know that we did when I worked at California Pacific Medical Center. So happy that Kaiser is paying for WLS.

You'll be in South SF, right? There are a bunch of hotels near the airport and south of it... Should be safe and close! Call the office and ask what they might recommend... They are all so sweet and helpful, especially Joyce! Good luck! I had my surgery there with Dr Alami 4 weeks ago today!

I am sure that there are hotels out by SSF as they are near the San Francisco Internations Airport. I would ask the Kaiser SSF as I know they must have a list for families that stay close to the hospital if they have a family member there. Oh and sorry that I did not know Kaiser Geary did not do the surgery. I hated Kaiser when I lived there. I am surprised that they will even pay for this surgery.!!

Hello Kimmie-sleeve...

I am starting the process in LA at a Kaiser...in SSF do they require attending 3 months of classes?

I had to do classes, but there was no time attached to them.. I think I had to take 3 classes on healthy lifestyle and nutrition and info about the surgery then about a week before my surgery I had another group class for pre-op.

Good luck in your process! I love my Kaiser team!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
