Looking For A Buddy 1/27 Sleeve 200 To Lose

Recommended Posts

I'm being sleeved on 1/27 and I have about 200 lbs to lose. I live in Colorado and I'm used to being very active until the last 4 years. I don't have any comorbidities, however, I'll be having another procedure to have tumors removed from my adrenal glands a few weeks after I have my sleeve.

Anyway, if anyone is in a similar situation, Coloradan or not, would love to buddy up and keep eachother in check :)

I'm tentatively scheduled for surgery on the 27th as well. I don't know what my goal weight should be but I need to lose about 175 lbs. I just got my blood work back and no diabetes, cholesterol and Vitamin levels are all fine. I did find out I have sleep apnea though.

The reason I say tentative is that I don't have insurance approval back yet, but the surgeon's office has penciled me in just in case it does come back in time. :)

Hi Circa - I'm a little after you (2/6) and would love to keep in touch and be support for each other. I'd like to lose 180 pounds (ack! that seems like soooo much). I grew up spending summers in Telluride (my brother lives in the family cabin year round now).

My surgery is not until 2/13 (Lord willing), but I also have 200 to lose. I find most on here are what I call lightweights ;) so I'm always looking for someone of similar build to track. See what my chances are of getting as thin as I desire. And how post op goes for them. I've been following you around already, Circa ;)

I'll partner with you. My sx is on Feb 1st. My surgeon's goal is 150 to lose. My goal is 165. I agree with Dooter about some of the "lightweights". I'm 5'9" and no comorbidities. Each day closer I get more excited about being active and doing things with my family again. I can't wait to enjoy shopping again.

Cool! Ya, I see people getting down to 120 and 140 (which is where i'd LIKE to get, but just don't know if that's reality at my starting weight. (340. SSSHHHHH...it's a secret!) I always said i'd be happy the rest of my life if I even got down to 180, but now that it may actually happen.....I'm getting greedy! I want MORE!!!

(There is a February 2012 thread. I actually started one, because the other February thread was for 2011 surgeries.)

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
