Hey everyone,

I was sleeved on Dec 29th and doing fabulous! Except I am SOOO itchy! Around my incisions, stomach, arms, etc. I also have little breakouts of rashes. Is this normal? Is this allergies? Is it the meds/vitamins I'm taking? It's just so...irritating!

Hard to tell.....is the rash in areas where you had tape applied when you had your surgery. I know that I developed a rash from the bandaids and afte 4 weeks postop I still am itching around my incisions. I think that itching there is normal as they are healing. As for you rash if it is where the tape or bandaids were you could try some lotion. If it does not go away you might have an allergy to something.

I am always itchy when healing. from healing itself and from the adhesives. Doc said tit was ok to use hydrocortisone around, not on, the incisions. It helps.

I was itchy at the incisions and across some of the areas that shrank the fastest during the most rapid weight loss. I put vaseline on the incision sites and use a body oil or heavy lotion on the rest of me. It really helped!

I was itchy in the same places others have mentioned. But I was also itchy under my arms, my knees, etc. It was progressively getting worse, and we figured out I was having a systemic allergic reaction to omeprazole (Prilosec). My dr. took me off it and the itchy feeling went away.

Hopefully yours is just from the surgery and not to a medication!

Best of luck

Hi beyon,

I bhad a definite rash on my arms my sides and my upper thighs. My pcp gave me some zyrtec and a creme. It went away. I was allergic to something and we didn't know what it was but glad it wore off.

I think you should let your pcp know and look at the rash. You shouldn't scratch and make an infection!

Good luck

I didn't have any rashes, but my sking is really itchy. I know that my body has taken a hit after the surgery and so I started taking Biotin for my hair and skin. Skin is getting much better, but should talk with your surgeon to find out whats going on and if you can take biotin or silica as a supplement. Take care of yourself! ;)

Thanks for the info! I'm going to keep taking the meds and Vitamins and get some hydrocortisone cream. First check up is Tuesday. I'm "itching" to tell him all about it!

Just fyi the nurse from the surgeon's office said not to use hydrocortisone and she sent me to the pcp. I don't recall the type of creme and I don't know why she didn't recommend hydrocortisone....

My situation is that my surgeon is 45 minutes away from where I live so I have to rely on the pcp to 'rescue' me. Good luck, again! And let us know what's 'tickling' you! <grin>

My whole stomach is itchy and developing a rash, not just around the incisions. Not sure what it is. I guess I will have to check with my Dr. I am 3 weeks out and I am wondering if it my Vitamins or my Prilosec. Hmmm....

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
