How Many Carbs, Fat And Sugars Am I Limited To?

Recommended Posts

I'm about 6 weeks post op now and i lost a total of 41 pounds. During this period of weight loss i stayed away as much as possible from foods with high fat, carbs and sugar.

How much of the above should i limit myself to in my daily diet?

Thanks

I don't worry about ANY numbers other than getting in my 70 grams of Protein and 64 oz of Water. Period.

Your doc or nut may have different goals for you, but I've been successful so far with what I'm doing. I've list 81 pounds in 4 months.

Good luck!!

Lissa

Your nutritionist might have a specific plan for you, but I know that my program didn't really have any set guidelines regarding this. I personally try to stay between 700-900 calories (more often leaning towards the high end) - at least 75 grams of Protein and below 50 grams of fat and carbs.

I agree with Indymom, your Nut should help you with that, also if you can track your calories in my fitness pal on your phone or any other website would be very helpful. I am 6 weeks post op like you and I am having about 900 Calories per day,65 g of Protein and I am trying to limit my carbs or sugars. They told me 600-900 calories per day at my stage would be good.

I guess every plan is different, and it depends on the food stage your in. Im 7 weeks post op and my NUT focuses on Protein, which she wants at least 60g and less than 30g carbs. 64oz Water per day

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
