YAAY! Day two done and gone! Down 4 lbs! Yes, I know a lot is Water but it's water I carried in lbs.! lol Anyway, doing bootcamp is really helping me get refocused on living healthier. I truly don't want to be a slave to scales and aren't at this point but when my little size skirts start getting tight, well..... (:( And MegNOLA, I understand what you mean about weight. I catch myself comparing to others weight and they are about 5 inches shorter than me! I'm 5' 7.5" and have always looked lighter than I was because of my height. But at almost 2 years out, I can tell my "new body" is shifting in areas I don't want it to shift! So lowering my carbs helps the "muffin" top that I lost completely and DON'T want back. I tend to carry my weight all up top, no bottom, butt or thighs! But face, middle and stomach, well.... enough said. YAAY, US!!!! Go, girls, go Team VSG!!!

So yesterday something strange happened--I pulled off my size 12 jeans without undoing them. I know it was at the end of the day, but---!!!!

Yeah, I'm just bummed now because it is so expensive, I would have to choose between crossfit and my gym membership, where I get yoga and machines and saunas etc. sigh.

Ooo... tough call GT... what will give you the best overall results? What do you think you can stick to? Could you afford to go another time or two to crossfit?

If I did crossfit 3X a week I would most definitely see a difference in my body, but the yoga that I get at my gym 2X a week provides a mind/body release that I have come to depend on. Also, as the heat and humidity increase making being outdoors more unbearable, the gym allows me to run and workout in a pleasant environment. However, it would only be for 2 months possibly, that I would be paying for both, maybe I can squeeze the $$ from somewhere else ... eek!

OK, I realise that this is going to sound desperate.. and I suppose in a way it is!

I think my scale is broken... it still hasn't moved... I'm still being 'a good girl' and being mindful of what I eat 95% of the time.

So, why do I think it is broken... here is my example...

Friday night I weighed before bed (yes I know... let me finish) and the scale said 171...OMG! Out of my bounce range in the wrong direction, leading to nightmares and all sorts; sweats, panic, shivers...lol... realisitcally; Water weight as I was sooo bloody bloated.

Anyway, Saturday morning I weighed in at 164... huh? Got off, go on again ... 164! Huh? Third time lucky ...164! Back to my all time lowest. Chuffed or what! 7lbs overnight... check me out eh?

I brushed my teeth pondering as how can this be real... but I'll take it for the team! In my excitement I thought 'lets see that magic number again... I can change my ticker and proudly announce that I have lost a pound and I am back to my all time lowest' ... got back on the scales and it read 167... huh? then 165... then 166 .... arghhhhhhhhh!!!!!!

I HATE the scales... I am sure that there is a little devil in there messing with it just to wind me up!

Then, Saturday evening, I go visit a friend, nip to the loo, see her scales...I can't resist (I think I have scale issues) pop on ... 162 fully dressed, in jeans... WHT! I love her scales, they have angels in it! At 162 that would make me overweight and not obese....

*Sighs...*

I am seriously considering buying new scales....lol!

Coops ~ I did buy a new scale and brought it home bc I thought my scale was malfunctioning! Well I step on both scales at different times and the new one was just 1 lb less that my old scale. So that means I can actually keep subtracting 1 lb from my current weight in but I don't. So I took the new scale back and got my money back.

There are days when I weight fluctuates and I'm not getting down very quickly. I don't really care any more because I'm liking my skinniness now. But I am going to take this all the way to the bank. I want at lease 10 more lbs at least. ;)

Coops--yeah, I think it's time for a "scale retirement" ceremony, in which you take the scale into a parking structure and DROP IT several stories down, allowing it to end its time on earth in a sleever-satisfying, demolishing crash. Just chuck it!! And video it, too. Come to think of it, I think I'm going to do that with mine!!!

Seriously, you should find a set of scales that is pretty reliable and isn't in your house that you can pop in and weigh on every so often. My doctor's office, for instance, is just around the corner from me, and I can stop in there and hop on the scale every so often without anyone else being around--the scales are just off the public waiting room in a hallway, but nobody stops you from going back there or anything. I think I'm going to do that occasionally, even though I prefer weighing first thing in the morning sans clothing (in order to be at my lowest weight, of course--stupid tricks we pull on ourselves!). I think the doc's scale is probably a whole lot more reliable than mine, plus if I get rid of mine or get my husband to hide it, maybe I'll stop hopping on there and getting freaked out by my perfectly acceptable and typical 1- to 2-pound bounce up and down on a daily basis--it's not like it's a surprise any more--heavens, I'm over a year out, but it still flips me the heck out.

Let's send our scales bungee-jumping without the bungee!!!

Thought I would post here. I made it to GOAL! I've become friends with my hooping instructor who is also a personal trainer. She has been watching her weight and it's really rubbed off on me. We check in each day with what we have eaten and what our plans are for the rest of the day. We also work out at least 2x a week. So 18 months out, lost 127lbs. I'm in size 4-6 down from 22/24. 36 C bra from 42DDD. XXL shirts to S/M. I have very saggy skin and I'm starting the process to get plastics to lift and tuck everything back. This has been an amazing experience. I'm at 149, 1lb less than my goal and I'm working toward 145. I love love love my body and I don't want to EVER go back to being fat. Thanks for all your support. XOXO

Hey gals, I haven't checked in for a while. I keep reading on my iPad and not having the mental energy to get out my laptop and post an update (I hate the keypad on the iPad)!

SouthernSleever, that's wonderful news, congratulations!!! You must feel great!

Coops, you really need to retire that scale--it sounds way off kilter and likely to drive you batty if you keep it!

GT: I cannot wait to hear about your crossfit experience (if you do it, that is...). I have to say, i've read some crossfit blogs and those are the fittest ladies out there! The guns on those ladies are astonishing, and I'm so jealous!

Meg, you are doing so amazingly well! Keep up the great work!

As for me, I'm chugging along. I lost about 4 lbs in the last month, which has been great! But now, we are back to the standstill. It's so hard when there is still 30 lbs to go. To be honest, I think my running might be interfering with my weight loss, and I looked it up on the internet, and guess what?! Lots of of people training for marathons or half marathons GAIN weight! Isn't that insane? I wish someone had told me before I started putting in all this work so that I can GAIN some weight, sheesh! I guess the intense stress of training tends to really ramp up your hunger (true), and because you will feel terrible if you don't fuel enough before and after training, it's not recommended to try to lose weight before a marathon. So, I'm just going to focus on training for now, and once the marathon is over, I'll focus more on diet. On the upside, I can tell I have really built a lot of muscle, and I feel like it's making up for the muscle I may have lost during my heavy losing phase. Anyhoo, it's disappointing, but I'm OK with just focusing on training right now. I signed up for the marathon because I really wanted to feel fit, and like I had made a change in what I can do in my healthier body, so if it means I can't lose for a while, I'd say it's worth it. Anyhoo, hope everyone is well! GT: I also want to hear more of your dating sagas! Pointy lips, ick!!!

Oh, and Coops, congrats on the running! For me, just being able to run has been such a big goal for so long! Seeing all the lithe runners effortlessly jogging through the park used to always make me feel really sad, and now I get to do it! It is an incredibly freeing feeling!!! Go you!

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
