Question For Those Who Have Had A Sleeve For Awhile.

Recommended Posts

So I had my sleeve done Dec 27, 2010. Since then I have lost 116 lbs. I had been stuck at 194- 198 lbs for 3 months no matter what I did until this past 2 weeks when I decided to eat what ever I wanted over the Christmas holiday. I get on the scale and have lost 8 lbs. So my question is what do I do now? Go back to my high Protein (70-90 grams a day ) low Carb or eat a more " normal American" diet.

Hi,

I can only tell you what has worked for me. That is low carb and keeping the Protein at 70 grams of Protein a day. You might benefit from writing down everything you are putting in your body. I always tried to keep my calories about about 800 per day. Are you doing any kind of exercise? All these things are worth trying. Carbs are my killer and once I start them, I don't want to stop them. Keep me posted at how you are doing.

Hugs,

Suzanne

I low-carbed all the way to goal and beyond. I also tracked all my food intake. However, if you have been doing this and are losing better eating differently, I'd say continue what you are doing but track your intake. Maybe you are eating fewer calories than you think--

I agree with Suzannesh - keep the carbs low (I try to stay below 60) and the Protein high (60 - 80 grams per day). Exercise as much as you can fit in.

That is my plan to get off the last 10 pounds between me and my goal.

Susannesh~ I thought eventually sleevers could eat up to 1600 calories a day to maintain the weight loss. So 800 is the maximum to aim for on your diet? Is this by choice or did a nutritionist recommend it?

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
