I just got my pre-op instructions and I am supposed to take three showers before surgery - two the night before and another in the morning. I can understand that they want you clean, but what is up with that?

Every Dr. seems to have their own requirement. My Dr. required me to wash with an antibacterial soap the night before. At least your Dr. is being very cautious. He must want you verrry clean. =)

I had to wash with antibacterial soap for a week prior to my surgery.

I had no instructions about how many showers to take! Just what to eat (or drink rather!) before surgery.

Living the dream,

Laura

My Dr gave me no instructions except nothing to eat after midnight, the night before surgery. I used an antibacterial soap the night before and again the morning of surgery, because I felt, hey, it can't hurt. (And whenever I'm stressed I like to take showers.) So maybe the showers will help you relax! Best of luck with your surgery.

They gave me little packets of Hibiclens (you can buy this stuff at drugstores like Walgreens) and told me to shower with it night before and morning of my procedure.

You don't have to put it ALL over your body, just so you know. Just put it all over your belly, under your armpits and breasts, and in any skin folds. It's kind of odd because it's really runny and it doesn't foam like soap, and it smells very chemically. Make sure you let it sit for a minute or so before rinsing it off.

They gave us special wipes to use after a shower the day before, and then said no shower morning of, just additional wipes. It's funny how different everybody's path to the same procedure is... Banane09.gif I love that sleevie guy...

I think that Dial antibacterial soap works too, my instructions were to shower using Dial the night before and the morning of surgery.

I had no instructions, but shower before going for the procedure. I had to follow an all liquid diet the day before though! Happy trails!

I had to shower with an antibacterial soap everyday for a week. The night before I had to shower with half bottle of hibiclens and the other half the morning of surgery.

I didn't get any of those kind of instructions. I was told to clean out my bellybutton the morning of the surgery, because that was going to be the port of entry. Ummm...no. I have incisions all around, but my bellybutton is still in pristine condition.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
