When Do I Get To Eat My Mushies? Nausea?

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

Thanks for all your help in the past. I am now on day 15 and no mushies yet? I see the Nutritionist tomorrow. If I eat some things I do get a little nausea? Is this normal?

Looking forward to day of being normal with my eathing.

Pattie

6 weeks out here and on normal foods. I still get a little nausea sometimes for the first few bites (or even drinks). But I also get a little nausea if it's time to eat. Nothing major. I kind of chuckled when I read "looking forward to day of being normal with my eating". I'm not sure if that ever really happens after being sleeved.

While I can eat almost anything I want-it is a far cry from normal eating. Eating slow, small bites, thorough chewing, eating Protein first (instead of veggies as I've done all my life), not drinking with meals.

It's a new "kind" of normal.

DebiC...You are so right about normal eating. I guess after so much faliure with the lapband for three years I feel as though I have not eaten a meal like a normal person. Thanks for the words of wisdom and encouragement.

I don't know what normal eating is anymore. I am reflecting back and realize I have been eating faster again, but have had no difficulties. I want to eat slower and savor the bites I do get. Sounds so dreammmmmmy..... ;)

I get nausea with EVERYTHING i eat beyond a mushy consistancy (yogurt, cottage cheese etc) My doctor put me on Reglan and Zofran- it helps a LOT- Mentally it bothers me that I have to take a medicine in order to EAT (solids) but it's better than the alternative of vomiting and feeling like crap. ps. i'm about 6 weeks out. THe meds are not forever- he said about another 3-5 weeks and I should be "normal". He explained that we have that fibrous tissue that takes longer to heal and gives you a restriction on its own. once that swelling goes down it shouldnt be a problem (the nausea that is).

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
