Bc/bs Insurance For Gastric Sleeve Surgery?

Recommended Posts

I have BCBS and it took me about 8 weeks to get approved. I was also missing weight records from one year but my primary care doc wrote a letter saying that I refused to be weighed and at the time I was " notably overweight ". I attended weight watchers for 8 weeks and had all the other required testing done and got approved! It takes a lot of diligent work but if you keep up with it and follow through it can be done! My surgery is weds. Jan 4th! Good luck!

You may want to check with your doctor offices to see if they would be willing to take the insurance payment as payment as full, it might not be possible in the 50% case but they may be willing to take the loss of a few thousand dollars. A few of the people on the lap band board mentioned their doctors doing that so it might be useful to check out the insurance and financing board over there for more info

I am going to the surg office Monday and try to get them to pin it down. I hope they will take the ins payment plus my 2500 out of pocket max...which apparently according to the rude lady I talked to at BCBS doesn't apply to bariatrics. She said it's 70-30 no matter what with a cap of 13k that BCBS will pay. Needless to say if the surg. and facilities are way too high I doubt I will be able to get this done jan. 30...possibly postpone or maybe not at all depending on fees.... which will REALLLLLY suck since I have been working on this since june 28. I actually have a secondarly ins. thru my husband and they are supposed to send a letter saying what criteria I have to meet for them to pay anything.... so maybe between the 2I MITE be able to afford the rest...we will see :( I have BCBS blue edge as primary and BCBS anthem as secondary. Keeping my finders and toes crossed!

I have BCBS out of Illinois and they approved me with no problems or delays. I was very pleased with the whole process.

Living the dream,

Laura

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
