So, after months of: seeing my doctor, going to a public seminar, going to an appointment with a bariatric surgeon, going to a public class with a social worker and a nutritionist, having a ton of blood tests, having a private appointment with a social worker and nutritionist, having a chest xray, abdominal ultrasound. an endoscopy, and a stress test, I am FINALLY in the last days before surgery. Tomorrow are my pre-op blood tests. Wednesday is my pre-op appointment with the surgeon and a pre-op class. My surgery is scheduled for Dec. 19th.

In the last few days I have gone through euphoria, depression and nausea at the thought of it all. Reading peoples writings has helped. Knowledge is empowering. I am currently at 228 pounds. My highest was 236 pounds. I have diabetes, high blood pressure, sleep apnea, and GERD. I am female nd almost 52 years old.

Good luck with the surgery and congratulations on surviving the gauntlet of preop yellow tape. I had sleep apnea prior to surgery. After getting from 305 down to 200 I got a new sleep study and the machine now rests in the back of a closet.

The surgery should help with many issues - may not cure you of diabetes or sleep apnea but surely it will make both conditions better. I am soon to be 49, ugh! Now at 190 and happy with my surgery decision.

YOU CAN DO THIS!! I am a female and I was 56 yrs. old when I had this done 10 months ago. I was over 300 lbs. when I started this journey and I lost almost 90 lbs. pre-op and I am below my goal with a 150+ lbs. lost total. My sleeve surgery was on Feb. 14th 2011. If this OLD lady can do it YOU CAN TOO!! LOLS! Good luck on your life changing journey to come. Keep us posted on your progress. Can't "weight" to see ya on the "losers bench" soon!

Diane!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
