Is your weightloss = "SHOP-A-HOLIC?"

Yeahhhhh the lbs are dropping, but so is your clothes size. Care to share how you are dealing with this?

I find myself stopping in Goodwill, online discounts, and unexpensive clothing stores on a regular basis. I must admit, that I am only 7 weeks out, and 1 size smaller -- but I'm loving my new size. CLOTHES, CLOTHES AND MORE CLOTHES!!! I need them, because nothing is fitting.

Though I am cautious to not buy too many outfits, because my goal size is a 6-8, and right now I am in a 14 -- but I am still loving the size.

How are you holding on to the new you??? Shopping are we?????

I started at a tight 28 back in January. I'm a 14 now. My goal is about a 10 or medium. I've barely shopped. All of my 3x (or larger) tshirts got culled out of my closet and folded for night shirts. I work from home so I was able to run around the house in my night shirts and be ok. I think I bought a pair at 22 and a friend donated a bunch when I hit 20. I bought a pair at 16 that I'm still wearing. I've bought one or 2 tops here & there and of course 3 packs of bras/multi packs of underwear at Walmart. HOWEVER...

man I've been looking at clothes non-stop since about March!! LOL Since I'm kind of close to my goal size, I ordered quite a bit of stuff yesterday. A LOT! I bought some sweatpants in a large (I figure once I hit a medium, 1 size too big won't be too terrible), some sweaters in an XL (again not too shabby.. I can continue to wear them for comfort), shoes, bras/underwear, pretty much everything since I was starting from scratch. I didn't go nuts on bras/underwear because I know I'm going to shrink out of those before long. I tried to keep the mindset of only getting stuff that I can continue to wear without too big of a problem. I think the only things that'll be a problem (shrinking out of) will be the 2 pairs of jeans and 1 pair of cords. Ya... I'm looking forward to next week when everything comes in and I won't be looking like a bag lady ;)

That's funny! I am actually 5 days out after surgery and I already REALLY need some smaller pants. YEA! Not cheap, but I went to Dillard's today and bought some cord. leggins and some cute new shoes. Put a tunic with it and ...there's a smaller outfit. :)

I'm swearing by yardsellr. Com for buying and selling. Out with the big and in with the smaller.

I am completely out of control! I'm in 16's from 22's and I love it. I'm wearing large and xl tops and I have bought 3 pairs of jeans and 10 tops. Oh and my fave so far a NORTH FACE fleece in a large!!! Never had one before cause I was to big, it wouldn't zip!!! That's it until these clothes look ridiculous :)

It is a sickness, my wife says I need an intervention. I love nice high end clothes. I refuse to pay retail, especially until I reach my goal weight. I am hooked on thrift shops and Goodwill. I buy like new Polo, Tommy Bahama, Hilfiger, Eddie Bauer and banana Republic shirts for 4.00 to 5.00 dollars. At this rate, I might not ever buy new clothes again, like I said, it is a sickness. Since I am no longer limited to big and tall sections, this has opened up a whole new world to me.

LOL. I think I have replaced my entire wardrobe at least 5 times now... I'm addicted to Goodwill & thrift shops! I like to go in and try stuff on & I usually buy at least 1-2 items that are the next size down. Every weekend I try those clothes on & I am so freakin' excited when they finally fit comfortably enough to be worn in public. Used to hate shopping & now I'm a clothes horse!

Ok, y'all are scaring me! I was a huge clothes person before my surgery and I had trouble finding things in my size. In just under a month I have dropped two sizes (only 13 lbs which is odd) and had to get rid of 10 bags of clothes that were too big already. I have refrained from shopping because I saved my smaller clothes in anticipation of one day getting the surgery. Right now I have 3 pairs of dress pants and two pairs of jeans. I only have three work shirts that fit right, one that is still snug, and a few t-shirts. I have some in 18W but I'm not quite there yet. I am trying desperately not to go out shopping....

I have actually only bought one new shirt and a new bra. BUT, I had a few things from when I was smaller before (or more like as I got bigger). I am just about out of clothes though, since I have shrunk-out of what I saved.

I can't see myself being a big shopper though. Even though I am significantly smaller, went from a 24 to a 14/16... I don't enjoy trying on new clothes. I think I will be more excited when I am not shopping in the plus sizes anymore. Since I am pretty short I still have to do the 14/16 W... I can't wait to lose the W. I think at that point I might be more excited, but at this point I can't stand when I try something on, and it still doesn't fit or it doesn't fit right. I know that will happen even if I get down to single-number sizes, but right now I try to avoid it.

Abso freaken lutely. I'm a total shopaholic now. Transfer addictions: New Clothes and Working Out. I used to avoid shopping like the plague. Don't get me wrong, I've always dressed cute, no matter what my size. But, it just wasn't as fun because not everything worked with my figure. It's much easier now to find clothes that look good on me.

I've always loved to workout but wasn't as fun being so large.

At my very largest I was a TIGHT Size 28W and a 3-4X in tops.

Today I'm a solid 6 (some 4's), and Small tops (some XS). I even bought a new pair of workout pants at Target the other day in XS. OMG... shopping is SOOO MUCH FUN NOW!

I do love going to the Goodwill. It really saved my life during my weight loss phase. I really don't know how I would've made it without it. The Goodwill up the road from me has 50% off entire store on Holidays. Can you imagine? I bought some barely or never used garments for a couple bucks a piece. Coats... ten bucks. Good ones! I always share with others complimenting my outfits where I got it / how much I paid... they're always amazed. I've even bought some clothes with the store tags still attached. C'mon... whatta deal!!! They were even designer clothes.

In fact I'm wearing a kickass outfit today. I doubt I even paid more than 20 bucks for the whole thing.

Have fun shopping!!!!

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
